Crater anomaly update

In an earlier thread I post some photos of some 'strangeness' in a crater I spotted whilst using the Nasa Worldwind program.

I then used the Clementine Lunar Image browser for the same co-ordinates -74 Lat / 106 Lon set at 1 pixel per 1 km and as it's taken at a different angle I thought it would show more / better detail ... lo and behold the whole crater has been smudged out !

You want to fix your links. I had to take ATS's URL out of the link to direct it to the pics.

Just wanted to add some info on the crater, which is called "Rittenhouse":

Rittenhouse is a small lunar crater that is located in the southern part of the Moon's far side. It lies amidst the western outer ramparts of the immense Schrödinger walled-plain. To the west is the prominent Hale crater, just visible from the Earth along the lunar limb.

The crater was named after the american astronomer David Rittenhouse:

David Rittenhouse (April 8, 1732 – June 26, 1796) was a renowned American astronomer, inventor, clockmaker, mathematician, surveyor, scientific instrument craftsman, and public official. Rittenhouse was a member of the American Philosophical Society and the first director of the United States Mint.

This image comes from Clementine dataset (UVVIS Multispectral Mosaic):

the problem that you encountered looks to be one of the many ones which affect Clementine Lunar Image Browser 1.5: but also in the original dataset, as you can see, the quality of the image is very bad: the "stretching" effect is likely due to the latitude: the more you get close to the pole, the more you see that effect.
There's a more recent version of clementine browser:

it has less issues at least.

I've used Map a planet, it's less user friendly, but more powerful.
