"vast" amounts of water on Mars pole!!

Has anyone else seen this on www.drudgereport.com... , it says developing but there is nothing about it on www.nasa.gov...

Could this be the BIG news. The proof once and for all...?

is that drudger site a bit of a jokey site?

I wonder if it snows on Mars. They do get plenty of weather. Snowboarding in 1/6th the gravity would be unbelievible. Id sign up for a snowboard trip to Mars in a heartbeat.

Mars has polar ice caps. We've known this for years. It's not water ice, though, it's dry ice. Frozen carbon dioxide.

Ok, here it is, but according to Space Kids, we're both right.

They are comprised mostly of dry ice, but there is probably some water ice.

oh no man, I'm happy you said so becasue I was about to stop waiting for him but I know he wil post a link....

None of us have been there and those measurements are iffy at best, I like the idea of snowboarding on Mars and even powdered frozen CO2 would be good enough, so the real question is can we do fun stuff on Mars when we go there?

Sorry, no surfing, but you might be able to get some snowboarding in if you could stand -150 degrees F.

jrod, the spectral analysis is hardly 'iffy at best'. What a strange thing to say.

As far as water ice at the Martian Poles, the ESA orbiter did detect water ice at the south pole a few months ago, maybe thats what drudge was on about?

(Still mostly Dry Ice however.)

I assume there will be some special suit that would enable you to run around and be active on Mars. A round of golf up there would be awesome too, 1 mile+ drives should be no problem.

The Drudge Report is regularly referred to by mainstream and major media types. It is usually politically slanted though. Great to see a space story on it thought.

Don't know about snow, but the Viking 2 lander did show some pics of frost...
