The PLA Navy has an insufficient number of large-scale and advanced landing ships and lacks such indispensable ship varieties as amphibious assault ships and dock landing ships. It is estimated that the PLA Navy is capable of lifting a force of 15,000 to 20,000 troops and some equipment in a regional (less than 30 hours of transit) amphibious assault.
