surveillance camera theater

I have a big problem with the number of CCTV cameras I see in my city.

The thing is no-one seems to care about it and think that it will help prevent crime and all that.

I'm not so convinced and seriously think that it's a step towards RFID monitoring.

I'm thinking about using their techniques to raise awareness about the erosion of our privacy.

Has anyone come across their performances?

Is it effective?

I know it's not illegal, I just wonder how effective it will be in raising awareness.
