The VA has the right to limit activities on its premises. The author if the NYT opinion piece, the secretary of state of Connecticut, states that her activities don't disrupt activities at VA facilities because a veteran can fill out a form in 90 seconds. Multiply that by hundreds and you've got people walking the halls of the facility for hours.

Veterans have access to voter registration through a variety of resources and because the VA doesn't want these outside groups getting in the way in medical facilities doesn't mean that there is some administration conspiracy against veterans.

This is just one more pre-election smear tactic.

Boo-hoo........

I don't see it. I see how partisan politics has no place there...but, this seems more to me like a way of disenfranchising even more poor potential voters. There is no need for people to be campaigning, just someone helping these guys get registered to vote.

Guess these guys did learn something from our military....

HOW TO GO IT ALONE.

No one is being disenfranchised.

There are veterans' organizations that will do almost anything for hospitalized veterans and who are there every single day volunteering their time for the benefit of veterans.

Any vet could ask any volunteer to bring some voter registration forms and it would be done.

This is a non-issue.

Yes you are right vets helping vets could sign one up on a case by case basis but based on this ban a group of VETS could not hold a registration drive at the VA. See any problems with that Grady?

I am really happy for you that you feel like this is a non-issue but I do not believe that this will not have an impact on disabled vets. One disenfranchised vet (or any voter) is one too many.
