ON HEMP, my husband ran across a WWII film by the USDA on the raising of hemp for the war effort. I'll see if he has the site if anyone is interested. Also there is supposed to be a very good oil producing seed that grow in salt marshes. I think the Israel developed it

ON FARMING AND ENERGY. I find it interesting that the Wealthy are being advised to invest in land, while WTO and Codex are busy trying to remove farmers from that same land using Useless “Safety Regs.” that promote red tape and NOT food safety. I can see the scenario now. USDA implements NAIS and Guide to Good Farming. Family farmers sell/are driven from their land. The wealthy buy up the land at foreclosure/forfeiture cheap rates. The regs are repealed and Bio-energy becomes the next big boom!
Do not forget to throw in starvation/disease to thin out the unwashed masses, illegals to work the wealthy owned farms at dirt cheap rates and the destruction thru “depopulation” of the non-patented animals and plants.

The framework of logic that electricity is non polluting is an untruth spread by eco environmentalists who dont understand the crux of the issues we face in power. Electricity is just as much a hog as any other resource it has to come from somewhere and there is no magic way to bring it into existence and harness for our own needs. Nonetheless this summer I worked on a project for the NSF on Hydrogen storage capabilities. Unknown to most people is taht there is no way to store hydrogen as of yet as it leaks from any containment device due to its molecular structure. So far research is being conducted into the area of creating a sort of lattice framework much like crystals to prevent their escape. Not to mention it takes more energy to make hydrogen then you get from it and it pollutes more than oil so either way it is not economically viable. Nuclear power for vehicles is also laughable the thought of roving Chermobiles is the last thing the world needs with all the preservatives we ingest. Fact is without real money nothing is going to change and there is no money its all in iraq so its up to the rest of the world to do something about it. Probably hasnt been mentioned much but most gof programs from the NIH to the NSF have had their funding butchered to the point of turing the whole research field into an abortoire of grant proposals.

I find your statement about hydrogen leaking from any storage container interesting. The stuff is hard to contain and I have had hydrogen cylinders blow through a couple of walls but most chemistry/quality labs have cylinders of hydrogen hanging around. Just make sure to have lots of "snoop" on hand to check for leaks.

Hey all, please do not go to college. It will take years before it makes a noticeable impact to your income.

But really, we have no choice but to utilize fossil fuels in the near-future until numerous "viable" replacements are available.

The problem we are going to have is "patent law".

The powers that be can buy out anything viable and make it not viable or sit on it.

Ever hear of "sovereign wealth funds?"

Patent law has to be changed or alternatives will take a very long time.

You're talking about a system that uses you and manipulates you and you deem to follow the patent laws...??? Don't you see that patent laws are evil and would keep anyone from making their own resources? We don't need a new patent or patent law, far from it, we need the complete opposite... That which allows anyone who can farm; to grow crop and produce fuel... This eventually would get to the point were fuel would be so easy to produce a small child could do it rendering the need for fuel to zero thus rendering the cost to zero or close to it, heck people would be giving it away... But instead we are held back by big corporate/government bs... Who gave them the right anyway? Did you sign a piece of paper agreeing to follow everything "they" tell you? Wake up man, think personal industry, not government funded big corporation... Self sufficient energies with the freedom to research and develop the technologies... True freedom to do what we need to do, isn't that what this country was based off of? It's all a huge scam and a huge blinder put over the peoples faces... We have been held back for centuries and quite honestly I'm tired of hearing everyone clamber on about how we "need" oil to survive and this and that... Think outside the box guys and gals, don't ask what your country can do for you ask what you can do for yourself to become self sufficient... Work to create a truly free society... And if laws need to be changed, change them in the correct direction...

In my opinion hydrogen is a ditch effort to make it look like they are doing something about the fuel problem, if there is a problem to begin with... They create the demand and control the supply while working on bs projects which make it look like there really is a fuel crisis, when there isn't... The control the product, store it and say we don't have anything left and then jack the prices up on us... Hydrogen is not gonna work... I would not want to drive a hydrogen vehicle, from what I know they are very expensive and everything they try to accomplish with these vehicles seems to have some problem... Funny considering we've had electric capabilities for over 100 years now... In fact I can't believe people are putting any time, money and effort into hydrogen, it's a waste of time... Waste of tax payers money and would only constitute another fuel that they could control us with... As long as the current setup is in play we will never see change unless the people stand up and demand it... They want to control everything we consume and do and unless we change that I'm afraid we won't see much progress in the right direction... I do like the idea of flex fuel vehicles though... Now that is a good idea... I still think full 100% electric is best though...

Speaking of drilling,

Gulf lease sale brings top dollar
High energy prices, improved technology help generate renewed interest
Thursday, August 21, 2008
By Jen DeGregorio

An annual sale of oil and gas leases in the western Gulf of Mexico drew more than $487 million in high bids Wednesday, the most the area has generated in a decade.

Members of the energy industry packed the ballroom at the Royal Sonesta hotel in New Orleans on Wednesday to watch Minerals Management Service officials, including Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne, read from a list of 423 bids on 3,412 offshore drilling blocks. The level of bidding, which peaked at $61.1 million for a single tract in the Alaminos Canyon region, at times drew gasps of surprise from the crowd.

I thought we didn't have anywhere to drill?
Isn't that why they want the exemptions lifted?

there are places in the united states they want to drill but can't drill in.. Haven't you seen the commercial with T-Boon Pickens an oil man with a name you can't forget, where he says how he'd like to just drill drill drill, but realizes the need for alternate energies and is working to develop the technologies to break the grasp the oil companies have on us right now... In other words, there is more oil, they just aren't allowed to drill it all because of one thing or another... maybe a law maybe a treaty maybe this maybe that, but there is always something preventing it... I know for a fact Alaska is a target for oil...

If we drill now, we can sell it, and use the money to research hydro electric.

How do you intend on changing from oil to hydro with no money?
