On the evening of 28th July 2008, at 21h14 local time the Indlebe Radio Telescope, situated on the Steve Biko campus of the Durban University of Technology, successfully detected its first radio source from beyond the solar system. A strong source was detected from Sagittarius A, the centre of the Milky Way Galaxy, approximately 30 thousand light years away.

I can't stop laughing at some of the articles related to this story. I love this quote:
"Before you read on, I'll remind everyone this ...Gliese 581 has planets in the habitable zone, which is also in the constellation Sagittarius, the very same constellation where this signal came from."

Shoddiest attempt at sensationalism I've ever seen. Anyone who mistakes saggitarius A for a signal of intelligent life from Gliese 581 would be the shoddiest excuse for an astronomer I've ever seen. That's like saying "I went looking for jupiter which is in saggitarius right now. I saw a gas giant, but saggitarius contains Gliese 581 so maybe what I actually saw was one of the planets orbiting Gliese 581." It's poor logic, and it's also just plain wrong; Gliese 581 is NOT in sagittarius, it's in Libra.

All this radio telescope did was pick up a very well studied radio source, the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. Cool, but not "little green men."

Was not the world famous "Wow! Signal" also coming from Sagittarius Constillation back in August 1977?

This region of the sky lies in the constellation Sagittarius, roughly 2.5 degrees south of the fifth-magnitude star Chi-1 Sagittarii.

First of all, there is no "also" since gliese 581 is not in sagittarius. The wow signal was detected at the following coordinates:
Either Right Ascension 19h25m31s ± 10s or Right Ascension: 19h28m22s ± 10s (it's impossible to tell which horn detected it, but only one horn made the detection)
Declination (Is the same for both horns): -26d57m ± 20m

The coordinates for Sagittarius A, where this signal came from, are:
RA 17h 45m 40s | Dec -29º 00' 28.00"
They would have had to have been almost two hours off in right ascention (that's huge) and another 2 degrees in declination, and then they would have had to just happen to hit right on the wow signal location at that. So in short, yes it's just a coincidence that the galaxy's supermassive black hole is in the same constellation as the wow signal.

The article even states that it is 'not from and intelligent source i.e not aliens.'

The article from aliencasebook states "On whether there is alien life out there, MacPherson laughed and said there is hope and a possibility that the radio signal could be generated by an alien source." I'm confused.

Unless you think black holes are actually aliens, macpherson was either being sarcastic or just plain wrong. The "laughed" part is why I think the former may be true. Incidently, they nixed the part about gliese 581 after I tried posting a comment about how wrong it was.

Well if they were vegans, then at least I wouldn't worry about them coming the eat humans like cattle....

...Ohhhh -- you meant Vegans, as in from the Star Vega. That's different. Sorry, my mistake (although a "vegan/vegetarian" army would also be bad, because they would eat all of our fruits and vegetables.)
