Looks like I was right to mention the Polish missile shield agreement...

Sky TV: Polish Foreign Ministry says deal on U.S. missile shield to be signed at 19:00 GMT.

The Polish are moving swiftly after the perceived Russian 'threat.'

What the Poles do is quite stupid. It only makes them a potential target for the Russians, if the push comes to shove (which I hope it never will).

Not really...... Because poland IS part of nato already .. If the Russians tried anything like they are in Georgia it would be WW3.

Then again hehe.. there are quite a few jokes out about polish IQ's

Now we know who to believe, Moscow explicitly lied about its troop movement in key Georgian towns. Gori was occupied all along, the news source below has confirmation from an independent source.

Define "all along"! We've all seen footage from Gori, including the recent and famous moment when Mr.Saakashvili ran for cover when he suspected a Russian plane overhead. There was no sign of Russian military presence in these videos (and Saakashvili wouldn't wander into the city if this was the case).

We killed russians in vietnam and Chinese in Korea, why havent we just just faced it off with russia and get it over, we are able to win this fight, why doesnt our government just lay it out for PUtin and tell him get out now or we will put you out, and as far as the french go, we saved there butts more than twice, why are they playing around with russian right now, man that really torches my hide. Just becuase you have nuclear weapons doesnt give you the right to just use your conventional ones on whoever you want because the idea is that russia will use nukes if we counter them with conventional weapons, I say that is just hog wash, counter there troops with our very great ground and air men, and run em out like we did to iraq in Kuwait. If they decide to take it nuclear we have that option as well, but don't let em just run amuck, lets kick there damn butts, and teach that backwards in time country a fricken lesson they have needed since ww2.

crap on all this waiting and watching, deliver the deal, put it down, hammer those idiots, we wouldnt have a problem moving them out, the world wants em out, we dont have to worry about the world on this , the opinion is against what russia has done, lets get the job done and quit worrying about nukes until it needs worrying about, this whole thing is like a story about a weak guy with a gun who bullies his way around a golden gloves boxer because he knows the boxer doesn't want to get shot, well we got bigger and faster and greater guns for that weak guy. LETS GET IT ON...

Ehhhh what...If America attacked Russia it would end in nuclear war and the russians have a better civil defense plan than America for nuclear attacks....More russians would survive than Americans even though america has double the population...but russia has double the land mass...anyway your going off topic...noone wants a war with russia,i dont even think the crazy neo cons are stupid enough to try it...they like picking off small fry.

I looked back at that vid today. And yes, it looked staged with poor acting. I still don't know why they even bothered doing that in the first place.

Did that look like sniper fire? Hell, it looked more like a stray bullet from somewhere to me.

I don't think sniper either. If it was a sniper he's a crappy shot to just graze an arm.

I donno. My wife is part Polish and she's a very sharp lady.

Seriously, Poles are in NATO and its fine... If they want to slant the balance of missile deterrence, that's no good.

I'm French (probably the only one around here) and the reason why we can't withdraw from this exercise is that we have to remain neutral since we hold the EU presidency. France can't take any side right now so that the peace proposal keeps its credibility. What do you want anyway ? Nuclear war with Russia ?

Here's yesterday's footage of the Russians allegedly on their way to Tbilisi.

Note: This was yesterday and has nothing to do with today's events

Wrong what the Poles are doing is pretty smart, not only are they going to get a missile shield but also overall upgrade of the Polish army not just the shield. Poland is also not scared of Russia they know if they are attacked all members of nato will attack Russia back. So WW3 could start easily and im sure Russia wont be risking that by trying to take over.

Russia didn't want to "take over" Poland in the first place. That's just a specter used to special interest groups in Poland and the US to further their goals.

US: Russian peacekeepers get wider Georgia mandate

A U.S. official says Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will ask Georgia to sign a cease-fire agreement with Russia that includes apparent concessions to Moscow but preserves Georgian borders.

Under the agreement, Russian peacekeepers would have the express right to patrol beyond two disputed border regions at the heart of the week-old conflict.

It seems like Russians called Bush on his bluff... I mean that's drastically different from whatever demands he made to them, actualy contrary!

What a dramatic turn of events.

Exactly. How does it ensure Georgia's 'territorial integrity' if the Russians are able to freely patrol outside of the two provinces?

The missile defence shield is a farce and would only be effective against single targets .. Not hundreds..

From the information i have read there are only a total of 10 ABM silo's in total at the moment. ONLY 10 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (2006 number) Even if they were able to Build another 50 in the last 2 years that would still not be nearly enough to present any type of "Shield" against a nuclear attack.

The so called "Shield" isn't a shield at all.. Not when there are thousands of nuclear missiles and less then 100 missiles in the shield.
