UNITED NATIONS, Aug 14 (Reuters) - U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Thursday he was concerned about the humanitarian situation, lawlessness and lack of access for aid workers in war-torn parts of Georgia.
He is "extremely concerned by the humanitarian impact of the recent conflict on the civilian population in Georgia, which has suffered loss of life and injury, significant damage to property and infrastructure," Ban said in a statement issued by his spokeswoman's office.
Ban said it also has caused a significant displacement of people.
He urged "all sides to control forces under their command to ensure that the current state of lawlessness ceases."

(Reuters) - Russian troops and armour moved in or around at least three Georgian towns on Thursday, ignoring demands by Washington that Moscow respect Georgia's territorial integrity. Reuters witnesses saw Russian troops in the key central Georgian town of Gori and outside the western town of Zugdidi.
Residents in the Black Sea port of Poti saw a Russian incursion. In Moscow, the Russian General Staff said it was legitimate for "Russian peacekeepers" to be in Poti and for what it termed "reconnaissance parties" to be in Gori, two days after Russia signed up to a French-led peace plan to stop the fighting.
France will not refuse to hold the FRUKUS 2008 international naval exercises, in which Russia will take part, representatives of the Russian Pacific Fleet information service told Interfax on Thursday. At the request of the French Navy, they added, a ship from the Pacific Fleet and the French frigate Vendemiaire will hold separate exercises in the Sea of Japan.
This video shows how hard the life of war reporters. The car carrying 4 Turkish journalist were shot at without warning. All four journalist survived but the first shot hit the head of the passenger at the front seat and cut his eye. There is a chance that he may loose the sight at that eye. Another one hit at his shoulder and the third one has a small wound. Two of them transfered back to Turkey with a charter jet.
In the video, the front passenger is warning that there must be some georgian troops around and then he is hit on the head. After the initial shock, they try to move back but the car stops. One of them (front passenger?) tries to calm others and warn them that he is bleeding and may loose consciousness. You can hear some of them are saying the last rituals in islamic tradition. Later the georgians kick one of them. After the things are clarified they are taken to a local hospital and interviewed there.
