Do you expect 100 Russian tanks to take Tbilisi? Surely an attack on Tbilisi would require thousands of pieces of armor plus tons of infantry. Where is this invasion force?

Saakashvilli is just blowing smoke everywhere. He is raising alarm, but no one besides his ministry is able to ascertain that Russians are advancing to Tbilisi or anywhere near it.

No actually i was talking about intensive bombing of Tbilisi in preparation of a future invasion. Then again this is all speculation.

I feel pretty safe now speculating that what Russia is doing is either

a) whittling away at Georgia's capacity to ever again assault South Ossetia, reduce or eliminate their presence in Abkhazia, and weaken the administration of the Georgian president by damaging Georgia's military to such a degree that his power base is severely crippled, while using aggressive tactics to force Georgian forces away from the frontier with the breakaway provinces as a temporary means of staving off further attacks until such time as they complete those objectives.

or

b) containing Georgian forces until such time as they can raise a massive invasion force and occupy Georgia indefinitely.

Which one seems most probable given what we've seen so far? I'm going to say "a," but anything is possible. I definitely feel that if Russia did begin raising an invasion force, the international community would quickly cry foul. The U.S. and E.U. states must have reasonably good intelligence, so the fact that their condemnation has thus far been only luke warm indicates to me that they are fairly confident that Russia isn't after occupation.

But again, as I said, anything is possible. I just want it all to end. Soon.

BBC news are delayed in that case. Our local newspaper who has reporters in Georgia reports that Gori has been taken by russians and they are pushing further

YAHOO NEWS LINK

GORI, Georgia - Russia captured the central city of Gori and its armored vehicles rolled deep into western Georgia on Monday, seizing a military base and several towns and opening a second front of fighting. Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said the Russian forces had effectively cut his country in half.

OK for all of you saying Gori aint under attack or is not captured, YAHOO news says otherwise.

So NOW, I am wondering about Maloy? Does our Russian friends still support Russia Or does this occupation go against your princables as you stated earlier in this Mega thread?
