That footage was quite extraordinary.

Sky just conducted a very interesting interview with an expert - they were discussing the implications of a U.S./Russia proxy war in the region, as well as the possible involvement of Wahhabist Chechen fighters.

Im watching BBC News and they keep showing Gori and there definetly IS armour in there and Aircraft flying over... some real low

Whose armor? Georgian armor, aircraft, and helicopters are exactly the same as Russian ones. Are you sure you aren't seeing a Georgian mass retreat?

BBC News was showning Gori but it was not live and they said it was early today ,they also said fighting was near and around Gori,So far I have seen no proof of the russians in Gori.

Russia says its incursion into Senaki was for the purpose of securing Georgia's largest air base:

russiatoday.com...

Russian peacekeeping forces have taken control of Georgia’s largest airbase, about 40km from the border with Abkhazia. The Russian Defence Ministry said the troops were taking ‘preventative action’ at the base in the town of Senaki.

Nope, I don't think so. Put it this way, the gunships are flying in getting low then flying out, flying back in then flying out again.

Somehow I don't think flying in circles like that is normal operating procedure during a storming of the city.

This is seeming more and more like some Hollywood movie in Gori by the minute now. As if it is all a big play for the media. Very awkward to say the least.

But I could see Russian foces coming in an taking the city - seeing how they took Senaki. They could effectively cut the country in two - as the major East-West road runs through there. But now what? On to Tbilisi?

And why has the Russian military confirmed attack on Senaki, but not on Gori?

That is what I have been thinking since I heard the reporter telling that there were no Russian troops in Tskhinvali, this looks like a huge production where only the extras are not aware of the plot.

Sadly, the extras are the ones who get killed, while the stars, the producer and the director stay on their chairs.

He is looking more and more like a Rebel leader every day than a President. Kind of like Dudayev running from Russian air strikes.

IMO, I think Russia will surround Tbilisi and force a surrender and expulsion of the president. and they will install ( by way of letting the opposition government take control ) their friendly government to in effect steal Georgia away from the west and USA more specifically.

Russia has always warned Georgia not to deal with NATO or USA. we are seeing that actions of those warnings.

my heart goes out to all the families involved.

--------------------edit----------------------

it is the onlt "logical conclution" i can see from russian standpoint.

Georgia will never surrender to the Russians.

I can see the Georgians making preparations for a drawn out guerilla war against the Russians.

Thats a good theory right there.

But I think if NATO or anyone doesnt do something, whats to stop them demolishing the entire country? No one seems to care anyway, not enough to do something. Its all good and well PM's and presidents going on tv saying ooo its bad or oooo its terrible but why no action?? Every leader of every country that said its bad and its sickening need to be fired.

Because the great leaders of these nations do not want to start WW3 with an unpredictable Russia.
