ok. had a experience this afternoon, at a police station.

story is i was arrested for assault, all i did was push a guy, but i wont get into that here.

anyway i had on me a digital voice recorder, set on voice activation and the police interviewed me by way of a video interview, i had my unit just up the end of my sleeve, now i had the noise from the waiting area at the station and the noise after i was led out of the interview room, but for some reason i don't have the actual interview recored,
is they such a thing as this type of technology, i mean the could obviously record the interview with video and sound but my little digital one picked up nothing.

Very interesting. You're in New Zealand?

I mean they could easily make some sort of 'dead room' for electronics I just don't see why a police station would need such a thing or how THEIR video camera would function in such a room but your recorder would not?

Also just out of sheer curiosity why exactly did you attempt to furtively record the interrogation on your voice recorder?

i did the sneaky thing because i wanted proof myself of what was said in the interview, for my own records,
that and the fact, as you can see from a few of my posts in other discussions that i belive i am being watched for some reason, by people unknown, so recording the interview was just for my own peice of mind.

why they are watching me i have no idea btw

well sorry to hijack your thread and steer it onto another topic but do you mind elaborating a bit on what you mean by people are watching you? I mean what makes you believe this? I am curious as to what evidence you have for yourself that you are being watched and what your own personal theories are as for why this is allegedly happening?

There is noise canceling technology but that only works to block sounds to a particular point from a particular direction. Like an ear. It would not work to block the noise of a highway to a backyard, or the sound in a room from a microphone somewhere in the room.

There may be microphone cancelling hardware. Every microphone is a vibrating metal plate and a magnet. This causes electrical pulses as the metal passes through the magnetic field when vibrating. Picture a stronger magnetic field which locks the tiny metal plate in place stopping vibration.
This could be localized, like in a table and not be so powerful as to be obvious.

So why would the police microphone work and pick up everything, but my one not pick up a sound in the interview room?

the cop microphone was on the table about 6inch from where i had my arm placed that had my unit up the sleeve.
