No, language tells you nothing other than what language the "story" was told in. Otherwise, the story you just told must be an english invention, because I certainly can't understand ancient babylonian!

Do you REALLY think Vegetation I(e.g. herbs, trees, grass etc.) existed (or were 'created' by some middle eastern clan-god) before the Sun, Moon, and the Stars were formed?

Do you REALLY believe there is a Req'iak ('Dome') with water above it surrounding a FLAT Earth at the Center of the Universe?

(for that matter, do you REALLY believe in Talking Snakes?)

I don't know why some of you are calling him a comedian as if that's pointing out that he somehow lacks the "seriousness" needed to discuss something like genesis. Many parts of the bible are laughably stupid, plain and simple.

I think the reasons for things like this can be described using archeaology as a parallel. Take a discovered city like troy, or the probable hometown of buddha. Reading about these places which are described as being large towns or cities with castles and such leads you to believe that they were large. Once you look at the way they were you realize that things were scaled down a lot smaller before modern technology. Buddha's palace was about the size of a small house, troy wasn't much bigger.

Now of course, this doesn't account for megalithic structures and their origins but that's a different story.

Maybe understand that when speaking of the world, the temple, the city, the congregation, or any place where people meet to conduct public life even "a mountain" is all speaking of the individuals, but when speaking of individuals it is actually speaking of whole groups that inherently portray the quality of the name given...such as Yisrael...means "He will rule as God". He will rule as God is what every person on earth does every day.
