The Israelis excell at taking the worlds trash (Mirage Jets or other older foreign hardware) and turning it into first rate weapons. Look at the Uzi its made of compressed aluminum. But Id have to say the Swedes really excell at aircraft.

Well yes due to the fact their intelligence services arent hampered by rules or laws.

Doesn't it depend on what type of weapon systems you want to choose.

Heckler and Koch make good guns and their Belgian.

As I may quote "the deadliest weapon of war is a marine and his rifle". Ok I think I watch to many movies, Israel would take the cake in my opinion. But as said it defers with tipes of
weapons.

The deadliest weapon of war is the human mind, the next deadliest is stealth and the element of surprise.
Look what the SAS/SBS did in WW2 with only knives.
However, in my opinion, I still think the .50 Calibre Machine Gun is one of the most devastating weapons you can use, or in rifle terms, perhaps the M16 (it does have a proven track record, easy maintanence, etc)

AK-47 is great...

Posted By Uninen/Fulcrum
"1. Its this basicly a AK-47, so it is very reabile.
2. light ammo, much can be carried.
3. ammo is light, but very deadly, because its special construction it destabilizes when hitting target and produces massive wounds.
(just one round can tear of a arm.. and in Afganistan mujahediin called 5,45x39mm M 1974 ammo as poison bullets, as they were so deadly!)
4. everybody that know how to operate and maintain AK-47 have no problems with this weapon.
5. Its suffiently accurate at battle distances.. even average marksmen shouldnt have problems hitting a man.
(10-30cm groups at 150m is what i would expect.. as bad 'AKs', Chinese weapons do 30cm groups and good 'AKs', Finnish weapons do 10cm groups.)
6. Recoil of .22LR weapon because of very effective muzzle brake. Even long bursts are easy to control."

Russians: AK-47

Simple, Reliable and easy to use. You can teach anyone how to use one in about 5-10 minutes. You can beat the hell out of it and it will still work.

Americans:

Browning 50. Cal.
Introduced in 1918 and still in service. The oldest active firearm in the US arsenal and for good reason. Reliable and devastating.

HK make guns for Germany, it is a German based company, they are very reliable and well designed guns. The swiss Sig series is also very good.

Personally, I dont really think it matters what the weapon is really, as long as the user is proficient with it,

Look what the SAS/SBS did in WW2 with only knives

The UZI is a genius design of weapon, was made to be able to withinstand sand (still fires when full of sand)

The best weapon available right now (in my opinion) is the Barrett .50 cal sniper rifle. That bad boy can put a bullet through a house and hit someone on the other side, accurately. If you attach an infrared scope, you can sit a mile away from a building, find a heat source, and put a bullet the size of your pinkie finger through five walls into their brainstem, and then just walk away. It's great! Psychologically it is intimidating as hell, knowing that you can get hit just about anywhere at insane distances.

...for its intended usage...I would agree. Another heavy-hitter 'sniper' .50cal I've had the pleasure of using was the Iver Johnson...very simplistic rifle...but no less effective...if anything its obvious simplicity (comprising little more than a long heavy barrel) adds to its stunning accuracy...

Being a member of a Rifle/Pistol Club since before I was a teenager...some 20 years...a Club that is situated in an area servicing the main NZ Army Base...so many of its members are either current or ex-Mil, have restricted licence categories so also have some rather interesting weaponary in their possession...

...its rather interesting what appears now and then on a Range...and of course no-one ever remembers what they see...short-term memory you know...
