The only problem I have with that is when those 18 pages come to be 2 pages of opinion and 16 pages of "he said", "she said" back and forth
between two people who are not even squarely on topic. I'm not talking about serious debate here; I'm talking about childish squabbling.
The mods do take care of the worst of it, and in their defense I really wouldn't want them to do more than they do. I think they have it about right.
But that doesn't mean I want to spend a couple of hours reading tripe. So sometimes I do skip through, especially when I encounter such.
While I understand your position and also tend to agree, I also think that there is a limit on how much an individual should have to read through in
order to comment. My suggestion is to read the first few pages, then the last few at least. That should give some good indication of where the subject
is going. That's what I am trying to do.
That's my $0.02 anyway, thanks to inflation now worth a whopping $0.0045.
