my appologies if this has been posted but it was just sent to me and i didnt see it while i was looking around. i think this story tries so hard to fade away but it really should not go anywhere until it is solved. american made anthrax is mailed to important people and we stop at finding out it was made here. apparently it gets deeper still.....

i did not want to go off topic in a 9/11 thread but this story is obviously tied to that whole thing. i guess i am curious what some of my favorite debunkers had to say about the anthrax mailings. it is curious just how little scrutiny that whole deal received.

This is a strange story. The following excerpt is an example of what I am talking about.

www.irishtimes.com...

The army chose not to discipline Mr Ivins over his failure to report the contamination. Officials said that doing so might discourage other employees from voluntarily reporting accidental spills of "hot" agents.

I don't want to rag on the Army and the way they do things but does that course of action make any sense? Wouldn't that course of action have the effect of not discouraging other employees from failing to report accidental spills?

Here's another example:

One of his long-time colleagues said Mr Ivins, who was being treated for depression, indicated to a therapist that he was considering suicide.

Isn't it the practice of therapists to maintain confidentiality with regard to their patients?

This story might be the straight facts. They seem to be pointing at Ivins as a culprit, but the evidence is circumstantial at best. His death, it seems to me, makes it a lot easier for someone to close this case, or if not close it, let it go cold without a lot of public outcry.

I don't want to scream cover up, but this is not a very illuminating development, especially in a 9/11 related matter.

While this might be a cover-up of some kind, it seems to be a very silly way of doing it. The suicide (or execution, if you're going for the 'cover up' angle) made front-page news out of someone that was on page 40 below the fold, next to the ad for Viagra. If the investigation had gone through, and he'd been charged (not a certainty), there might have been a small media blip about it, but certainly less than the rather dramatic story we have now. I can't help but think that the government could arrange a quieter exit.

but loud suicides are carried out often that seem suspicious. but who cares, it seems suspicious but are you going to exhume the body and figure it all out? no. but...if prosecution goes through, then discovery takes place and knowledge is gained. knowledge of who gave orders, covered things up, and on and on and on. a loud suicide is safer for true criminals than any quiet court case. that court case will prove they are guilty too and then the story size does not matter so much to them anymore when those indictments or visits from higher ups concerned about their recent "suicidal thoughts" begin happening.
