Ignoring ignorance while denying it here?

I wonder how many of us are ignoring things in our own lives even while denying ignorance here on ATS?

How many of us are looking for external sources of control and manipulation while overlooking our own internal prejudices which trap us and control us?

Has ATS become a never, never land where we have this fantasy of justice and right and transcendence, while in our heart of hearts we are trapped, and afraid and controlling of ourselves and those immediately around us?

I know in the recent past I was afraid to let an Eagle fly and be free, worried about the nest and their leaving it to fly free. But now that Eagle has done it and is soaring beyond what I thought possible.

I don't know how to help others learn how to let go and be free because it's HARD. But without it, I don't know what is left.

Very thought-provoking.

Initially when I signed up to ATS, I had a lot of ideals and so many plans that never really got acted on. But I find in recent months, I see myself becoming more active in so many facets of life in an attempt to make a difference.

At work when I'm with co-workers, I am constantly blabbering about my thoughts on various subject matters and promoting critical thought. I promote integrity and standing up for what you believe in, even if it goes against a social norm or any perceived hierarchy. I talk about living a moral life and abiding by your own morality, rather than resting on ethics and abiding by any social norms that people come to expect. What have been some social norms in the past that people believed in? Whites were superior, homosexuality was a diagnosis treated by shock therapy? These are the social norms that I'm expected to accept? I don't think so.

In the last six months I've somewhat mobilized with activity in my local union, talking to anyone and everyone about anything that interests them that applies to where our world is heading, refuting ignorance when I come across it.. even in situations where I felt I should remain quiet in the past. A few nights ago I had a wave of emotion come over me and I had all of these thoughts running through my mind. It is my intentions to start writing letters to my local newspapers to hopefully be published in the "Letters to the Editor" section and discuss the ignorance and close-mindedness of our ways on so many levels.

I've stood idle for too long.. and I find myself now needing to take action and make a stand.. or I just feel like I'm going to wither and die. I can't really explain it, but it's just this need to do something.

Listening to this John Mayer song inspires me to no end.

Lyrics to "Waiting on the World to Change"

Me and all my friends
We're all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing and
There's no way we ever could
Now we see everything that's going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don't have the means
To rise above and beat it

So we keep waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

It's hard to beat the system
When we're standing at a distance
So we keep waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would have never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door
And when you trust your television

What you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want
[ Waiting On The World To Change lyrics found on www.completealbumlyrics.com... ]

That's why we're waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

It's not that we don't care,
We just know that the fight ain't fair
So we keep on waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

And we're still waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
One day our generation
Is gonna rule the population
So we keep on waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

Now we keep on waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

So being confronted by things, you've learned how to positively respond better and have used the influences of being here to bolster your courage and to act rather than just passively respond.

People respond to stress in many different ways. Sometimes we have a tendency to withdraw feeling the stress of knowing is too much.

Others become energized and reach out experiencing a surfeit of courage bubbling up from a self-renewing spring inside.

How dare you take this post, and this site as an opportunity, (bravo) to continue to spread the positive and deny the negative both internal and external?

We can only dare, and the future becomes ours. Shrink and withdraw and life passes you by. Meet the challenges head on, and don't worry about this third rock from the Sun making another circuit, boldly go where no man has gone before.

I shall consider it, Captain.

Action helps where inaction sustains and promotes rumination.

Act. Live. Run. Give.
