It's interesting how people are jumping to the conclusion that the USA in Iran are "at war". If you set proxy war, it might be a little more
accurate except that that's been going on since 1979. However, the current situation is that Iran and the United States are now officially engaged in
high-level diplomatic talks to resolve the one issue that is the true source of conflict. Iraq.
After operation Ajax in the 1950s and the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s were Iranians suffered casualties in the millions! Iran wants security on its
western border since Mesopotamia is the only land route capable of supporting an invasion. To facilitate this, Iran sought to undermine Iraqi
government through subversion following the 2003 United States led invasion of Iraq. With the troops surge of 2007, those plans were thwarted and
Iraqi government and the US position in Iraq were firmly solidified. The cost to the United States is a sustained presence in Iraq with a posture that
does not threaten Iran. That will allow the Iranians to back off their support for the insurgency.
That's what all this is about. All of this other talk of oil for euros or enrichment of nuclear material, Death to Israel or threatening shipping in
the Persian Gulf is all a sideshow. Chances are better than average that a direct conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran is avoidable.
Otherwise, violence in Iraq would skyrocket back to 2007 levels and Israel would not be publicly advertising the method in which they intended to
attack.
Be careful what you wish for!
