Phoenix staff released just a few of hi res images: don't forget that phoenix stereo camera is way better than every other camera ever landed on Mars. We will see what it is, as well as other strange objects spotted by this lander:
easynow is a very good contributor, and even if he/she is wrong, it doesn't matter: this is NOT one of those contributors who spot crocodiles and monkeys in every image: he/she's always been very balanced and deserves RESPECT. My take is that it's an odd shaped rock, and that there is no evidence that it's more than a rock, but this does NOT mean that i am able to debunk this one.
Oh, i LOVE kitten, by the way

It's a rock, i'm sorry but its simply a rock. Skulls are hollow and you can CLEARLY see this is just a solid ..... rock.

It's solid. It's ROCK solid.

And if it's a kitten skull, how the hell can a kitten get on Mars? Someone explain that to me. Did someone sneak a kitten on a shuttle to Mars and then throw it out the window just for kicks?

I, for one, firmly believe that Mars once harboured life, just as the Earth does now.

I also believe that Mars still has life, of a limited capacity still clinging to existance on or about the surface of Mars.

I do not however, think that this ROCK is a fossil of any kind. I have seen many pictures of fossils over my years using computers, and can tell you with a huge degree of certainty, that this image is nothing more than a chunk of igneous rock that has been worn smooth by water.

Nothing more, nothing less. It is a rock.

edit - missing word.

Yep, looks like a rock.

I'd only be convinced it was a 'kitten skull' if it was next to a bowl of milk.squeaky toy and a litter tray.

Clearly, as here on earth, the Martians do not have a good spay and neuter program. Springtime on Mars brings many new kittens without homes left to fend for themselves. Poor little martian kitty.

Now there is a thought.

You shall have the conspiracy nuts going, well, 'nuts' over this one. I can just see the headlines now.

"NASA kills kittens for fun" or "Kitten Killed by Rover on Mars"

Evil NASA scientists yesterday confirmed their fifteenth kill of kittens on the surface of Mars. Twenty thousand kittens were released in an experiment to see how fast the heat-seeking killing machines on board the rovers would brutally and senslessly murder kittens.... blah, blah, blah.

I have a pretty open mind about most things, but this looks to be like a rock to me.

Even if this was a skull, I'm not sure it would be a kitten skull.

I don't know - it could be a kitten skull. With really tiny eye sockets. And a really solid head. And a missing body. Which would indicate Martian vultures. I want to know what happened to its little Martian space suit - obiously it needed one to live on Mars with it's Martian master.

Well i have no idea what the "osteon" is so that blows that out of the water.

But if its a skull of any kind it appears to look very human.

I am 99% sure that there was life on mars but i dont know if it was just plants or if it was animals as well.

But this 'skull' is pretty well kept so that would suggest quite recent life to me.

Good catch
but it's a rock, very easy to see that also.

it is a rock indeed... even if it was a skull, i would have interpreted this as an alien skull not kitten.

People, it's just a rock. It doesn't even look remotely like a skull.
I found another image of the cat before it became a skull for ya, easynow!

Ok, not really... but I couldn't resist.

From the previous thread of the man walking on Mars and now this thread it seems to me the martian has lost his cat. Well i guess we have found it for him. ITS JUST A ROCK FOR THAT MATTER THEY ARE BOTH ROCKS.

Okay. I hate this though! It's like, I don't wanna be too naive and at the same time I don't wanna be a hypocrit. I mean, aren't you a hypocrit if you say you're not skeptical and you're being skeptical? Then again, though, we should know the difference between what's real and unordinary and what's fake and imaginary. So I guess I'm not being a hypocrit if I don't believe fake stuff, but some fake stuff seems so real... and that's where I get confused on whether to believe it or not according to fact or opinion.

That's where a balanced assessment of the information is required. For example in this case. If you put a picture of a real kittens skull next to that rock is it obvious why the rock is a rock and only looks like a kitten to those with over active imaginations.....I think the answer is a resounding YES.

Now the Crinoid fossil that NASA ground to dust is much more interesting especially when you compare it a gainst a known crinoid fossil. WOW.

Now that does not mean that the Mars Crinoid is a Crinoid however it is orders of magnitude more likely than the rock being a kittens skull.

you would've done better if you claimed it was a martian artifact citing the hole that was bored in its center as proof it isn't natural.

Anyway, now I'm thinking you're a disinfo agent shoving an obvious martian relic in front of us saying its biological remains when its obviously something that was manufactured with implements/tools.

damn disinfo agent lowlife
