Why do gasoline prices have 9/10ths of a cent at the end of the price?? Just seems like a gimmick to get another cent without people really paying attention. I'm going to guess it was started back when gas prices were just cents a gallon and has never gone away.

I would guess the same thing too. It's kinda like buying an article of clothes that says $10.99 instead of saying $11.00. For me, I don't really pay attention to the cents, only to the dollars, unless I am comparing prices of items by dollars and cents.

You are correct. Think back to last time you said "I paid $4.50 a gallon today!" Did you even think of the 9/10 then
You just about paid $4.51.
