www.scientology.org...

Me personally I think they are nuts. I never knew much about this organization until I found this site: www.xenu.net...

I also learned that Tom Cruise and Travolta are among many other actors members and contriubters to this organization. It seems to me that they are a crazy cult. I would like to read Dianetics to see what this guy is ranting about. I remember hearing ads for that book back in the day but I had no idea what it was advocating.

OUt of curiosity one time, I went to one of their "personality tests". They have all kindas of strange galvanic response machines you use to "get right" (really all they are , is the same machine you can use to self hypnotize yourself with, by controling the tone)

When I told them I was not interested, they acted offended (cause they weren't getting my money)
they still called me for months trying to get me to "come on over"

They're nuts, for sure. You have to pay them more and more money for "materials," then you move up. Travolta and Cruise are some of the highest-ranking members.
Cruise claims they are excellent for teaching to read those who have dyslexia.

I think it was back in the 70's, L. Ron Hubbard (the founder) was accused of forming his own CIA-like apparatus to spy on and harrass/kill wayward members. He was a druggy, also.

Hubbard is the reason that Travolta did BattleField Earth.

He wrote the book.

A friend of mine was telling me - the other day - about how Hubbard founded the "church." He was a speed/meth freak according to my friend and other stuff I've read.

Travolta should've sued Hubbard's estate for ruining his career!

I don't remember ever hearing that he was in the Navy. Interesting. This is sad to say, but, military folks get the best drugs out there.

Maybe I was wrong. It mentioned something about him on the USS Nitro. Maybe that was a boat in his silly Sea Org.

I'll ask my friend. He's into all that. Knows alot about the science fiction & stuff.

But hey - the Navy might just be where he developed his habit. Happens to many. I have this theory I developed after I was in the Army. As long as you're good at what you do, are where you gotta be when you gotta be there, command tends to look the other way at certain things: prostitution/porn, boozing, a little drug use... Gotta keep those insanely bored troops happy. (My unit worked with the DEA spotting for pot in Jamaica and Kentucky) You would not believe the "stuff" those guys would bring back.

What did they do with all that "stuff"?

Recreational use. Not everyone - but some did.

Back in the late 40's early 50's Hubbard shared a house in California with a man named Jack Parsons. Parsons was an engineer at what is now the JPL and also a follower of Aleister Crowley, as the story goes Hubbard, Parsons and Parson's wife all threw money together to buy an ocean going boat to try and make money from transporting people and goods. After a while Hubbard seduced Parson's wife and ran off with her and the boat. I think it was shortly after that he began working on the scientology cult.

There is a book called Sex and Rockets, a biography of Jack Parsons that i got this information from, it is very interesting reading.

I also forgot to relay a tale similar to one that i read above, i had a freind who took a personality test (officially called an audit) and found the whole experience very unpleasent. The people conducting the test tried to break him down while questioning him and after the audit he never made contact with them again and eventually moved out of town. For the next year or so his mother would get cards and letters asking his location and when he would return to the church.

Just does not sit right that some church/cult would try and entice a wayward person back even after a year or so.

Supposedly back in the early days of modern sci-fi, L. Ron Hubbard once told Robert A. Heinlein that if a man really wanted to get rich he should start his own religion...

I'm not sure if this is a true story. I believe I read it in a published interview with Heinlein but I can't provide the source.

Wasn't Hubbard a student of Aleister Crowley and a possible initiate of a specific Rosicrucian group???

Ive done very little research on this group. But i have one of these "churches" near by.

Well christian science, is that scientology?
What i have found from chritian science which i would call a cult. As theyre teachings differ quite severly from the bible.

They dont believe anything to do with the trinity just that God is the universe.

Christ is only an idea because matter doesnt really exist.

That christ did not die (dont understantd that one)

There is no hell and we keep aiming for perfection.

Man is not a sinner so no salvation is nessecary

They believe illness doesnt exist.

Wow, well if scientolgy is the same as christian science bearing in mind i have probably been very generalistic, i am very sure they are a cult. Cult meaning extremist, false, variance from the bible.
