Stimulus checks are a only helping the COPORATES!

So i personally didn't receive a stimulus check. Im still a collage student and a dependent of my parents, BUT a lot of my friends all received stimulus checks for around $600. Well They were given to boost the economy! help people pay off the debt they have accumulated due to the higher cost of food, gas, and most goods in general. To even the playing field against the rising cost of oil.

Sounds good in theory. BUT everyone i know just blew the money! They all know that hey had a set income, they were making and had planned on making that same amount of money at work. So they get a big check. Everyone i know blew it on useless RETAIL. to the Corporates. Bought a nice new LCD TV. (about one months wages), put a down payment on a vehicle, just to set them selves up for very large payments for a nice new car, Bought a ton of new clothes!, etc.

This upsets me, Im American so i feel i have the right to say this, Americans are HORRIBLE WITH MONEY! they blow it all on stuff we don't need instead of paying off the $300 electric bill, and the $200 Cable/Internet bill.

The majority of Americans spend gobs of money on entertainment. If its not the TV, the cable that goes to that nice TV, the nice couch to sit on while watching that cable on the TV,...etc..i mean come on.

does this not strike anyone as absurd? We should have a required class in high school that teaches HOW TO SAVE & SPEND YOUR MONEY.

My own mother spends all the extra money she makes on traveling. ive been pressuring her to just put away 1/100th of what she earns into silver or gold. Nothing, but she wont even do that. Becasue that extra 1/100th is another cruise to Alaska!!!! OOOH AHHHH. Well when were all living in our storage facilities with all of our stored electronics and goods ill be laughing.

That was the whole point. The stimulus checks were there to stimulate the economy. Not stimulate the consumer. Our government is owned by the corporations and their main interest is to ensure that the corporations continue to thrive. The government doesn't give two craps about you or your savings account. They do however care a great deal about how the corporations are doing.

The checks were given out with full knowledge that we would simply piss them away, keeping the machine moving. A pretty worthless gesture it would seem. Although, when you look at the financial disaster that our country is in, it is rather remarkable that the American consumers continue business as usual for the most part. I would have to think that if 40 years ago, gas and food were at record levels and banks were folding left and right, that the Americans of that time would be reacting in a far different manner than we are today.

Thank god for American Idol and MTV right? Our ability to ignore disaster is second to none.

Love your post! haha. 100% right my friend! Were too occupied wit entertainment to even care about the fact we might all wind up hopeless.

But the stimulus checks upset me because they pushed them as a way to cover your debts. The government advertised them as a cure for rising oil costs with the full knowledge that they weren't going to help at all. that 95% of the money was going strait to massive companies. i mean understand if all the large companies fall it will jut lead to more problems, but i think that if we can keep the companies alive and spread the wealth to those who need it it would all be fine. But there just buffering companies who are already holding their own.

What's worse is that the government made a lot of that money back as well. For people that have student loans their checks were taken by the government to pay part of their loans. Anyone who owes child support also did not receive a check. There is a whole list on IRS.Gov that will tell you who all will not receive a check. So not only did a large percentage of Americans not receive the stimulus, but a lot of those that were entitled had it taken before it was even printed and handed back over to the government itself.

I would really love to see the numbers on this pile of bull crap. How many Americans actually received one? And just how much did it actually stimulate the economy?

HAHA thats GREAT! So the people who HONESTLY needed the checks to pay off student loans and child support didn't get them because the government knew they weren't going to blow the money on retail junk, but were actually going to use it. HAHA Wow the government just has every corner covered don't they!

Well I sure could have used one for my school. I work my butt off to make enough to pay my school off, but i didn't qualify for one.

But yeah i think that money could have been out to much better use. Im against big government and i like the power to the people aspect of the stimulus checks, but the government could have done much more good with that money.
