Zimbabwe says sanctions failure a "victory over racism"

HARARE (Reuters) - Zimbabwe on Saturday welcomed the failure of a Western-backed U.N. Security Council resolution to impose sanctions over its violent presidential elections, calling it a victory over racism and meddling in its affairs.

Russia and China on Friday vetoed the resolution, which would have imposed an arms embargo on the southern African country and financial and travel restrictions on President Robert Mugabe and 13 other officials.

No surprises here - certainly not from my perspective:

Mugabe, despite the fact Jimmy Carter, Henry Kissinger and Harold Wilson helped:
1. Topple the white-minority ruled regime of Rhodesia, and
2. Ensured that Mugabe would "have a place" in the first post-Rhodesian elections

is quite content to - yet again - blame those "evil white racist colonialists" for attempting to reign his madman's regime in:
I suppose if it wasn't for those evil "white colonialists" Zimbabwe would be a regional power, and once again the breadbasket of Africa, a veritable utopia.
