Hi all,

I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but just recently I've been noticing a bright light in the sky at night, the brightest "star" up there and I was wondering what it was? I'm living in the UK and the clear skys at the moment gives a good opportunity to see it. My guess was that it is the space station, but it's a lame one....

thanks all!

Probably Saturn or venus, what time does it rise?

EDIT: Also check here for handy info on what celestial objects are visible when and where.

Are we sure that it's Sirius? Not that I'm doubting you, but that other site listed here tells me that if it's a star at some distance away it would be twinkling and this is not? The best time to see it is about 8:30pm, it is on the opposite side of the sky to the moon at this time (I'm sorry that I can't use the propper phrases or words to describe this properly
)

Well I never really look at the northern part of the sky so if you are meaning something in the north then its not Sirius. Sirius is in the south sky. And I never see Sirius twinkle.
