It's not just the US who are in a state of decline, the whole world seems to be steadily falling. Gas is too much, houses are too much, cars are becoming too much, it's just going to screw everyone over in the end. There's only so much gold that's behind the money, and everyone needs some.

I didn't really believe that the world will end in 2012, but now that I see what's going on, I think it just might.

I would say the biggest problem facing America is its culture. By and large many of us have become too attached to commercialism. I don't think we value hard work and self-sufficiency like we used to. We don't put as much emphasis and care on the American family. If the family is destroyed America will follow not long after. If we want to continue to prosper we'll have to learn to be fiscally responsible. We need to start bringing our manufacturing jobs back from China, Mexico, Taiwan, and other such countries. Cheap goods are nice, but they've been costing a lot lately.

The United States needs to legalize English as its official language, take control of its own borders, and beginning enforcing its own immigration laws. We should welcome people who want to be a part of this country, but we must be selective about who we let in. Mexican and other South American drug runners and gang members have no legitimate business here. Many lives would be saved if these thugs were kept off our streets.

We have corruption in not only government but society as well. I don't have all the answers, I don't even know for certain what all of the problems are. I do however know that they did not start with George W. Bush and they will not end with his successor.

The truth is I'm not optimistic about the future.

I agree. I am in Me´xico and the country is now heading in the wrong direction, too. There is a big sale of houses, like in the USA a few years ago. Food prices are going up, steeply. Gas prices are somewhat steady but will rise in December of this year.

I think the Bilderbergers and the Illuminati are behind the rise in prices of everything.

I must say this is pretty well put. Not often when you find somebody who isn't solely blaming Bush. I don't have all the answers either but sooner or later we have to find a way to make Congress tackle real issues and not feel good issues. And many of those issues, among others, are a good start.

It's laughable that somebody from Mexico comes here and asks what is wrong with our country. He should stay at home and take care of his own problems. Mexico is a filthy, corrupted country whose main exports are human slaves, crime, and drugs. They have no place to talk.

but he has the right to ask and see how ppl here are viewing the situation. the american gov't has stuck its nose into so many other countries that i am starting to come to the conclusion that those in other countries, at this point, have every right to question these kind of things.

i do see your point as well though. mexico is in a pretty sorry state itself and i would personally be more concerned w/ my own country's problems than that of another........ in fact, i am.

Everything can be putdown to unregulated financial services, don't know about the US but in the UK having to pay £100K for a shed should have been picked up by the government and then regulated maybe then we all wouldn't be in such a mess, putting the fuel crisis aside (speculators fault) it's down to the government, estate agents and financial institutes, and stupid people allowing themselves to pay so much for bricks and mortar which aren't really worth more than 3K

Good for you.

[edit] Just a joke, but on topic doesn't this type of thing lead to a spiral effect of withdrawls?

I suggest people go see "Lions for Lambs" a little film Robert Redford made (with Meryl Streep and Tom Cruise). It's basically about the apathy that is endemic in this country. When the war started there were big international protests and huge ones here too. Then--almost nothing. Fear is a big part of that. A lot of people feel outraged at what's been happening, it's obvious, just look at the internet with millions of angry or bitter truth-telling rants. But the internet is not "real life"; it's not flesh and blood life. Nobody's really organizing. The biggest demonstrations in this country since after the war started were organized and carried out by illegal immigrants!! (Most of them from the OP's own country.) That's pretty sad. And ironic. Most of us are afraid to organize, to get out in the streets, to voice our opinion.

We've grown too slothful in our little comforts. Too fearful of risking that they (or we) be taken away for getting out there and protesting, in some way with our fellows. Whatever your opinion of France is, when the people feel they're getting the shaft from their government they collectively get out in the streets and demand to be listened to!! No fooling. Even the high school kids do it. We've lost that. And most of us don't feel--really feel--the pain our armies (and our money) inflict on other nations. If we really felt it, we'd stop it.

But let me send a question back to the OP--- why isn't Mexico, which is the most (or second most) populous nation in Latin America--taking on some "popular" form of leadership for the rest of Central and South America? And please don't tell me it's because of George Bush and co. or some shadow group. You can't blame all your problems on the U.S. Mexico has a lot of potential. Are the people just as subdued there as here?

Becky,

What's with you? What has ruffled your feathers? Not me, I hope. As for your insults, you keep them. I do not want to respond in a nasty, uncivilized way. You are just ONE rotten apple in all the nice responses I have got.

I am not going to lose my cool because you are menstruating, Becky. You are now on IGNORE. Good day.

You've got to understand, Beckys has got the scrupuls of Pol Pot and a political outlook that would make Benito Mussolini proud!!!

That's because I have a pair. A BIG pair. And my women love them.

But you guys better stop hitting on me and calling me Becky- especially that nino ignacio- because I don't swing that way!

Maybe he's at that gender-confused age?

I swear to God that I thought you were a woman and your name was Becky. It was not my intention to insult you back, but you seem to have a chip on your shoulder, and I usually just ignore people like you.

Again, I make it public: It was not my intention to change your gender, even though you may as well deserve it fully.

I would usually apologize for such a mistake, but in this case, I'd expect a public apology first from you since you wrote an undeserved and opening insult, and you continue to do so throughout this thread.

I have decided to put you back on ignore. Au revoir.

Bush wants to do away with the dollar so hes running it in to the ground its all to do with the Americas becoming one europe becoming one and african natins becoming one then intergrated into one world government.I am in Florida right now typing his.I live in UK and am glad to get back. The mentality i have experienced from the Americans are false smiles, greedy, pushing in queues loudmouths i could go on and on.I mean just go to Disney and see all the fat people going around on electric buggys.Everything tastes of salt or sugar.Even your water has so many chemicals.Your diet is a big factor to how you act trans fats e flavours hyper sugar and flouride. It was hitlers scientists who suggested to him to put flouride in the water to supress the people who were against him.Dick Cheyney is on a board for a company who makes a chemical which they put in fizzy drinks and food.I am seriously telling you i loved the usa till 2 weeks ago you reap what you sow.
