Man, saw the trailer for this at the movies today. Looks AWESOME...Keanu Reeves sort of has that rigid, alien thing going on naturally (lol), so he should be great in this role. Special effects look killer.

Starts december 12th!!

Haha, I hope not! This is a pretty exciting movie on the subject of Aliens, and a remake (albeit with some new twists) of one of the all time classics! I personally would like to see some Alien flicks that didn't always portray the creepy, sinister side, but I'm just happy to see another cool movie coming out on the subject in general.

I see it's up on youtube now. Here's the embed, for easy viewing folks:

This movie looks awesome BUT Keanu Reeves has disappointed me before so....

Thanks DimensionalDetective for posting this because I did not know there was a trailer out

While browsing movie trailers on youtube I came across Babylon A.D. which also looks pretty cool and something for us that enjoy sci-fi movies.

...seven minutes of footage from TDTESS here:

Last night Fox had an encore for the series premiere of "Fringe" which was followed by an exclusive first look at an extended scene from Keanu Reeves' The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Hi there. I just wanted to post and say that you can download the black and white original film from archive.org!
Cool movie by the way, looking forward to the remake!

History has shown that Hollywood knows how to take a classic and completely rape it of everything that made it special in the first place... there's only one exception I can think of that improved on the original. War Of The Worlds but I attribute that success to Spielberg.

This is a case of 'just wait and see' for me. Keanu Reeves seems like a cliché and somewhat passé choice for a protagonist. Honestly!

Will special effects and a barrage of orange explosions and bullets win out over storyline and character development? Will it be turned into a sub 90 minute, substance free cash-in that's over before you finish your popcorn? My money says yes - but I hope I'm wrong.

hopefully they don't go crazy with cgi and ruin this movie. I saw 10 minutes of it on Fox, when Keanu is getting a lie detector test. Those 10 minutes were awesome. I hope the rest of the movie is as good as that.... but i wont hold my breath until it gets to rottentomatoes.com.
