The Girl who Silenced the U.N. for Five Minutes (Severn Suziki)

I couldnt find talk on this so im gonna post this amasing video and back story so all can see it . Hope this is the best section for this .. We'll see.

This is an incredible video of a Canadian girl who spoke to the United Nations and left them completely silent and speechless for five minutes. Her name is Severn Suziki, and her speech was given at a U.N. assembly in Brazil when she was twelve years old. She had raised all the money to travel to the delegation, five thousand miles from her home, herself. Speaking about the hole in the ozone layer, pollution, the devastation of the forests and extinction of so many species, Severn charges that we adults have no idea how to fix these things, in fact can’t fix them, and that we must change our ways. “If you don’t know how to fix it, stop breaking it,” she pleads. Severn continued to say: “I am here to speak for all generations to come. I am hear to speak on behalf of starving children around the world whose cries go unheard. I’m only a child and I don’t have the solutions…but neither do you. I am only a child, but I know we are all part of a family five billion strong; in fact, 30 million species strong, and borders and governments will never change that. Even when we have more than enough, we are afraid to share. We are afraid to let go of some of our wealth. Two days ago here in Brazil, we were shocked when we spent some time with children living in the streets. This is what one child told us: ‘I wish I was rich. And if I were, I would give all the street children food, clothes, medicine, shelter, love and affection.’ If child on the streets who has nothing is willing to share - why are we, who have everything, still so greedy? I am only a child, but I know if all the money spent on war was spent on finding environmental answers, ending poverty, and finding treaties - what a wonderful place this world would be.”

If you ever thought there was nothing you could do . Or say . That could make a difference . Then i say your just not trying hard enough . If every person was to try something as noble as this . The world could probably achieve a great deal of forward progress..

Why are they listening to a 9 year old girl, when the 5 minutes could be better spent discussing issues, this is all well and good but I doubt any of them adults where really listening. Also, wouldn't a well informed, well educated scientist know better than a 9 year old girl?
And as to the ozone layer, it was dicovered that it heals itself so no need to worry about that, but strangely enough after this was discovered the greenhouse effect and glbal warming started appearing, coincidence?
But say we stopped all pollution nothing would be able to advance technologically, would you be happy living in the exact same world for the rest of your life, just so you can know that an animal you haven't even heard of let alone seen, can live?
As to rich countries sending out more aid to third woruld countries, its a bit like this: Poor people in rich coutries giving to rich people in poor countries.

For one she was 12.. And 2 . I bet this little girl has done more in that 12 years than you have in your whole life.(No offense of course . But she was 12...Sheesh). Or let me guess you were raising money to travel across the world to do something like this at age 12?


Personally i think this is one of the best things i have ever seen . And have never even met a guy with the ball this 12 yo girl has .

If its not your cup of tea . Then that's fine . If it inspires one person to put a bit more effort in what they believe . Then this was 100000% worth posting

read and understand agenda 21 to understand why their listening to 12 year old girl. It a great way to convey mother earth needs to be saved and humanity is the enemy.

when a child can stand up and be determined to be heard amongst the clamour of politics, business deals, back-biting, and hidden coporate agendas and silence a gathering of nation heads-of-state, then we are truely on the way to a brighter future
