McCains 300 million prize a false hope ?

Why is John McCain offering a 300 million dollar award to whoever invents a better battery for cars when there are other technologies out there that can replace gas powered vehicles and not be a burden on the electrical grid system.

it takes energy to charge batteries wich costs money. it seems this water powered vehicle would be a better idea because it creates it's own energy and would be less demand on the power grid.





correct me if i am wrong on this please. is McCain promoting this to keep the utility company's going and to keep you on the GRID ?

So far, of the articles I've read about this $300 million, or $380 million "bounty" depending on what news you read or hear...where is the $300-380 million coming from anyway? It didn't say in this article and it didn't say on any of the news I heard today?

yes that is a good question and i think i heard or read that it would be one dollar from all of us. i will have to look for that again.

i dont remember hearing anything about where the money would actually be paid/taken from ?

taxpayer money or investor money is the question ?

Is it just me or does it seem as if McCain is completely senile? Does he have any clue as to what he's saying?

I simply do not understand the drivel politicians speak. Most all of them seem to live in a different world than I do. $300 million, sure, whatever.

I'd bet the government could save a few bucks by pulling out all of Tesla's stolen work and making use of it, but that won't line anyone's pockets with cash, will it?

i took a class entitled 'appropriate technologies' in which i studied several methods of producing electricity (solar, hydro, wind) designing and building these systems as well as an overview of other forms of energy.

one thing i was taught is how batteries have kind of peaked in terms of design. i was told that there is now a sever limit on the ability to store, the weight, and materials used. so there would, based ion this information, be a big need to push battery technology into the next level.

however, $300 million could sum up to chump change based on the costs possible to make such advances if the information i was given is true.

Anyone remember the video of George SR. after he was out of the office I think touring a grocery store and marveling at the "scanners" that had been around for 15 years? All of them are so out of touch it's unbelievable!!

i have to ask you though , did they ever talk about how the next level would be achieved ? and did they tell you about nanotechnology batteries ?

i still think batteries are not the way to go but i guess it would be better than gasoline. what's probably going to happen is Exxon will probably be the one to win the prize money....

the person who taught the class knew of no advancement on the horizon, as far as i remember. he was saying that things like electric / hybrid cars, storage for energy produced on a small scale, and all the like were going to be drastically limited for a long time to come until some major break through in battery technology was made.

the technologies you mentioned could very well be the answer i am not the one to ask, i just thought i would share this information.

i do not do it to back up mccain, i think he is worthless, but to contribute to the overall body of knowledge.

i think there is an ulterior motive at play here with this prize money and i think most politicians are worthless.
