I'm sure many here have been called crazy conspiracy nuts, however i've found something really interesting recently. Well it's interesting to me at least

I found that non conspiracies, meaning conspiracies which have been admitted or shown to be true, are still not believed by many people. To give some examples read below.

Skull and Bones

This one isn't a conspiracy, the current president of the USA has stated it's real. Yet when you mention this to anyone, when you say about the fact that many of the leading figures in politics have been in this group, you are told it doesn't exist. Does anyone else find this strange, has anyone else had this happen to them?

MKULTRA

The famed CIA mind control experiment. It has been admitted through freedom of information acts that this program existed. When you mention to people that it involved mind control experiments they really just wave you off as a nut. Many people think this program did not exist, i've found it often.

Operation Paperclip

As many here will know, operation paperclip was instigated during world war 2. It bought german scientists over to the USA, some also went to the UK under another program. Basically the german scientists were very advanced in many areas and countries grabbed what they could. Some of these scientists were forced to work but others were true nazis, supporters of Hitler and horrible people. To this day, when i have mentioned this to people i've been called a conspiracy theorist.

So why do people deny official truth? These are conspiracies that governments have admitted under freedom of information act requests. They are no lnger untrue, unverified accounts, they are absolutely true things that happened.

If anyone wants to add other conspiracies which have been officially admitted then please do, and maybe try and answer why today, many people still think these are conspiracies, and anyone who mentions them is a nut.

zero point energy (or the ether as it used to be known)
still denied by most 'scientist', yet an increasing number now believe it will be possible to tap this power and use it
not an actual government conspiracy, but close enough
actually, there is a huge amount of that type of thing in science, which makes me really sick at times, a little bit of research and you soon find out the science you are taught, or what is 'proper acceptable' science, is for the most part, untrue

I am afraid i have to reign you in, i said officially admitted. That means documented and proven, my apologies but zero point energy doesn't quite match up there.

More importantly i'm interested in why people deny such things.

You make several excellent points here. The reason people deny these (former) conspiracies is that they seem to outlandish to have any merit. I really think it comes down to an ignorance-is-bliss mindset. It's easier for these folks to dismiss such things outright, because to accept them would upset their world. In short, they fear what could be true.

I'm not sure it's because ignorance is bliss. Some of them do it because i think it's socially accepted. Because most people think they are conspiracies, many don't even bother to look into it thinking that society as a whole is correct. I'm wondering if it's out of a mix of laziness and wanting to belong. When people are talking if you mention things like "Skull and Bones Society" in a$ group they'll pretty much all think you're crazy. Occasionally you get the odd informed one who backs you up and that often stumps everyone. They then resort to the old line of "That's just a conspiracy theory, you guys must have read it wrong".

I've been fairly successful, at illustrating to the naïve, those points in history at which conspiracy theory transitions to conspiracy (not non-conspiracies, that's a misnomer. I've conspired at work within small groups to prove other people incompetent or set them up to fail. A conspiracy is simply a secret plan. They happen every day the world over). All you really need are the facts and an easy-going, conversational manner. Act incredulous when people are ignorant of history. Making people feel stupid while smiling to their face and acting like you are just trying to help them learn something new is another good tool. If someone counters facts with weak conjecture, attack them and expose them. I have no patience for people like that.
