Evidence against Guantanamo Bay detainees to be re-written

This is just so dodgy. The claimed evidence has been good enough to hold detainees at Gitmo for the best part of 6 years or longer but now it has to go to court, it needs re-writting?

WASHINGTON - The Bush administration wants to rewrite the official evidence against Guantanamo Bay detainees, allowing it to shore up its cases before they come under scrutiny by civilian judges for the first time.

The government has stood behind the evidence for years. Military review boards relied on it to justify holding hundreds of prisoners indefinitely without charge. Justice Department attorneys said it was thoroughly and fairly reviewed.

Now that federal judges are about to review the evidence, however, the government says it needs to make changes.

Evidence requirements are different for the U.S. federal system than they are for belligerant combatants in a Military court. If you feel strongly about this look up some of the High Courts decisions concerning enemy combatants during the past few wars. The current admiistration was in line with our historical treatment of such.
