Project "Preserve Destiny" & "Looking Glass"
Stealthskater:
Good Post ! I have spent over and hour and a half following the links you have provided. Very interesting and informative.
I would like to offer my own opinion as to the validity and background of former TSGT Sherman. Sgt Sherman was a member of the USAF component
assigned to NSA, and which when I was assigned to it was designated "USAFSS", and now is designated as "ESC" (Electronic Security Command).
In reading most of the" preview" portion of Sgt. Sherman's book I was struck by the structured format of the book and its information. It
was consistent and totally conforms to the security structure required by and for insuring secrecy at the highest levels.
Sgt Sherman, by virtue of his "cover mission", would have held a Top Secret-Codeword security clearance, and therefor would have a legitimate
"cover" not only for his (purported) "black project", Project Preserve Destiny, but also to deter questions about his work in general. I do
believe his background is real.
I was also impressed to find the use of at least two (2)
Codewords, which I have certain knowledge were used during my stint in USAFSS (1958-1962), AND which were only "de-classified" in either late 1999
or early 2000. This was from some of the "links" other then from Sgt Sherman's book or from interviews with him. This is important because the
un-authorized disclosure of a Codeword, linked to its Security Classification Level, is in and of itself a breach of security consistant with that of
Top Secret. Example: " Top Secret-XXXXX", where the X's stand for the Codeword).
All in all, your Post was worthwhile and informative. Keep up the good work,
USAFSS-SP
