can we sue a american president?

Let's say bush gets kicked out of office for lying to the American people to start a war.
Where our son's daughter's all died for a lie he made up.
NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION.

but If he did get impeached ..would meen he was found guilty of lying to start a war.

So if he is guilty could...fallen soldier's family sue EX-president bush..for renburement.

to to do a class action law suit against G.W.B for death's of fallen family member's due to lie's...IF he is impeached

You could try and probably even find a lawyer or two that would take the case, with money up front.

Short answer is no, you can't sue. He was acting as a Federal government official at the time of the decisions were made. You need permission from the government to sue it. Permission will never be given as it will set a flood of frivolous lawsuits from people and groups who are politically motivated.

Bill Clinton was sued while he was president from actions he incurred while a governor, not President. He did not have this protection at a State level.

but you have no evidence that proves the "lack of evidence" to invade Iraq.
Speculation would never be heard by any judge in this land, on a level of this magnitude.

For a president, its something all together, its called Impeachment.

Sued. For what?

I know the federal government is protected from civil suits.I guess certain cabinet members can be sued in civil courts.A lawsuit filed last week against Vice President and senior White House officials delighted opponents of the Bush administration. But before the case can go to trial, courts must decide whether those named in the suit have immunity. The law is clear that the president has absolute immunity from lawsuits for anything he does while in office.So the answer???

Doctrine of Odious Debts

If a despotic power incurs a debt not for the needs or in the interest of the State, but to strengthen its despotic regime, to repress the population that fights against it, etc., this debt is odious for the population of all the State.

You can bring a civil case against the US government, but not any individual within the government, so no you can't sue Bush if the action in question was performed in the capacity of President.

That's why we have an impeaching process (which doesn't mean to kick out of office, just so everyone knows that). So you could impeach the President so that he could be charged with a crime (which is what impeach means, it's like an indictment).
