Thanks for the link Ocelot, very interesting reading.
It reminded me of my visit to Paris in the summer of 2000. On every street there were scraps of carpet left along the curbs - after asking about
this, I was told that the French use them to protect their cars from other French drivers who recklessly crash into them, when parking or leaving a
parking space. No wonder 25% of the cars had broken head or tail lights and multiple dents in them.
I saw some really strange parking situations with cars sticking out into the street and one car was actually parked and left right in the middle of an
intersection.
Oh well, maybe the Paris parking tickets are really cheap.
