A series of misstatements and verbal gaffes hampered Sen. John McCain on the day that unofficially marked the beginning of his general election campaign against Barack Obama.

Appearing at a press conference in Louisiana on Wednesday, McCain claimed that he had supported "every investigation" into the flawed response to Hurricane Katrina, when, in fact, he had twice voted against creating a commission to inspect the tragedy.

The remark immediately bounced around political circles and websites.

The FIRST day of McCain's campaign against Obama and already the man is LYING.

Misstatement, misspoke, why doesn't the media just call it what it is, LYING!

I can already see what this election campaign is going to be like, all we are going to be hearing from the media will be, McCain misspoke here, and misspoke there, he made a misstatement yesterday, ....

There ought to be a penalty or something where a candidate gets fined, or recieves less air time on TV (something!), every time they lie about some FACT about themselves in order to persuade people to vote for them.

The American people shouldn't have to go over and investigate EVERYTHING they say just to be sure that what they were saying wasn't a LIE.

Is lying the only way these people know how to get elected!

The short answer to that is, Yes.

The public opinion polls, the focus groups, the townhall meetings, they are promoted as a way to gain insight into the needs of the people and form policy positions that seek to meet those needs. Nothing could be further from the truth. Those forums are used by the candidates to gauge what the people want to hear. They are nothing more than a way for the candidates to figure out what to say to sway voters. I don't believe they are used to help decide what the eventual elected official will do to meet the needs of the people once in office.

Its all one big PsyOp.

Obama is a even big liar.
Who denies his Muslim connections?
Who claimed his uncle liberated Auswitz?
Who lies about his Hamas connections?
Who lies about his relationship with Ayers, Weather Underground?
Who "changed" his stance on Iran?

Obama is full of it. No wonder why he will lose.

A liar is a liar, just like a sinner is a sinner. Once a person has proven themselves to be a liar, it is hard to believe anything they say with any confidence.

McCain and his shenanigans go all the way back to the Keating Five. He is fortunate he wasn't censored or forced out over that debacle. He has learned to fly pretty much under the radar since, but that doesn't mean the leopard has changed his spots.

Both candidates need to come clean on their connections and their affiliations. Will they? Probably not.

Ehh hehehe.. love movies like that, Have any on all the other candidates? .. How about Ron Paul. I always took him to be honest, any proof he lies as much as Mcliar here?

Nope, none as far as I know. I will see if I can find anything, but somehow I do not think I will.

I just don't even know what to say from that video. I want to see one on Obama. I am a huge Obama supporter, but I also believe all is fair in this campaign season. I don't want half truths and lies about Obama, I want a video just like this, so I know EXACTLY what lies are being told. I have to take the little ones to the pool here real soon, they have been bugging me all day and the sun is just now starting to shine, otherwise I would look for these myself.

All other sources I found that claimed he had deep Muslim connections were from off the wall sources.

A Hamas official told an interviewer last month that the group approved of Obama's candidacy.

All the other Hamas smears about Obama are from sources I never heard of before or aren't MSM.

He has always said that we need to sit down and talk to Iran! It's called diplomacy, it's what SOME countries use to prevent a war!

No wonder why he will lose.

Ha ha MCcain is a joke isn't he? And not a very good one. Check this out from the Alternet website as well as he attempts to distance himself from Bush www.alternet.org...

Please Americans even if you don't like Obama don't vote for Mccain, vote for Nader or the libertarians, if you want i am by no means looking to influence your vote.

Nice try, Barack. You can't make that statement fly around the international table. No way to spin it under the circumstances either. Pretty bold statement of support for continued Israeli control of Jerusalem. That is, until the final status thing. Kind of makes sense in that context, I guess. Really only a partial revelation of policy intent to the seated crowd, taken in its entirety.

I think Jerusalem will end up being an international city one way or the other, eventually. I don't think any politician running for president would come out and say that in front of AIPAC, though.

Btw, I don't think this compares at all with the McCain video above. Mr. Obama didn't claim he never said it, or ask them where they got that quote, or directly contradict himself. He made a bold statement, then took the heat for it and responded intelligently, clarifying his remarks. Not bad politicking, if you ask me.

That video is proof that McCain is either incompetent or a liar. Either way, don't vote for him. Whichever the reason, you don't want that kind of person in office.

If I had an American vote, I think I'd do like PeruvianMonk suggests and vote outside the Democrat/Republican parties. I'm not sure who I'd pick, though, but rest assured that none of the big candidates would get my vote.
