Police kill man in standoff over FEMA trailer

Police fatally shot the mentally ill occupant of a federally supplied trailer early Wednesday, ending a nearly 10-hour standoff in one of the neighborhoods hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina.

Federal Emergency Management Agency workers alerted police Tuesday afternoon after a man with a handgun ordered them to leave the trailer in an overgrown, weedy lot in the affluent Lakeview neighborhood after an inspection, authorities said.

I don't understand this story. There has to be more to it. The article says that the trailer was in an overgrown, weedy lot but you can tell by the picture that it wasn't.

And the man was in his own house when he was shot... not the fema trailer. It just shows that the police WILL shoot to kill if it means following orders.
