what you going to do when 2012 comes and goes?

depending on how you view 2012...if according to beliefs and it varies,when nothing happens and we go into the year 2013 unscathed.What was the big deal then?

When and if that happens people will just figure out a new date in the not-so-distant-future to speculate about. I personally don't think anything world altering is going to happen during that time, so I'm not going to get too caught up in it.

It'll be interesting to hear the excuses, though. We should start bookmarking threads that deal with 2012, and then in 2013 revisit them and see if anything was actually correct, and then make a large thread going over it all.

you both need to really get your heads on straight and understand that the "date" of this "2012" occurence.. is just the "beginning of the major peak of our solar system's travel through the area of the galactic disc that's most highly packed with photons.. the photon belt.

so it's not so much as "some big thing that will happen exactly at 2012.. but it's more or less a GRADUAL BUILDUP of the planets warming.. the sun burning brighter.. and more electromagnetic energy in all forms exposed to the lifeforms and earth's crust itself.

another thing to note... duuude...

is that you're probably so uneducated about the topic that it's going to be new years eve Jan 1st 2012 and be like see huuhh huuuh see huuh nothin happened.. yeaa yeaaa mongo say nothin happen ..nooootinnnn

when in actual reality...
it's set to be actually.... about 10 days less than a year away from that point.
so you have a year to make an idiot out of yourselves.

the date that begins the "peak" area of highest amount of photons the human race is ever exposed to...
will be starting on dec 21, 2012, and lasting a year..

so until we pass.. LITERALLY... actual science here boys...
until we pass THROUGH the MOST LARGE, HIGHLY DENSE PHOTON PACKED AREA OF OUR ENTIRE GALAXY, DURING THE YEAR 2013...

then you can sit back and kick up your heels and say to everybody.. massive photon electromagnetic radiation doesn't affect MEEEE! seee?!!
or the earth...
or the sun..
or the other planets..

maybe we can take a large radiation chamber...
and fill it with the amount of radiation expected during the year 2013.
and test it on you guys..
and see if you come out screaming and crying or not.

would that make for a fun conversation thread?

I plan to go to work on 2 January 2013. It'll be the first day back to work after our Christmas shutdown...if we are allowed to call it that by then.

There's no scientific evidence of any kind of photon belt that we are going to pass through. That idea has gained popularity since the 90's, and wasn't it already predicted that we were supposed to pass through the belt in 1992, and 1997? What happened there? Now it's 2012?

I hope to be saying to my darlin' "hey, guess we'll keep doing like we've been doing -- keeping a 3-year supply of preserved foods, rotating them, and keeping the 4000 gallon cisterns full, keeping the well cleaned, and garden tended.

Yeah i heard photons,pole shift,etc..btw a pole shift takes thousands of years.I dont hear about todays top scientist being to worried about this planetary alignment and dont see any doomsday reports from astronomers,physics,and NASA etc.So why would this worry me?Sorry it dont.

most sane people have not had to worry about this # coming in 2012 but what im worried about on Dec 10-20 that most stores will be sold out and allot of crazy assholes will be running out in the street yelling "its the end of the world!! its the end of the mother #ing world" until Jan 1 arrives we wont be able to go outside without a crazy mother #er out in the street or in the stores or at the police station. when the stores go out of business for the holidays most of the crazy mother #ers will be braking in side of the stores for so called protection. i don't know what to do if we go to stores before the so called end of the world most stores will be sold out if we go to stores after well thats just it! the stores will be messed up. so i don't know what to do.

Astronomers ARENT worried. Because the alignment occurred (apparently, I cant do the math myself to be certain) on May 7th 1998.

I just learned this, so I am spreading the word. Scientifically speaking, the thing has already occurred.


Edit to add, to answer the OP, what I will be doing is waiting to see how people react and what the next doomsday prediction is.

I am not mocking them, just interested in the whole phenomenon. And, to be fair, if the 2012 thing was not entirely dependent on the alignment perhaps something will happen. One really cant know. Or at least I cant. I have no psychic ability to predict the future unfortunately.

Wow, read a physics book. A photon moves at a constant velocity, c = 2.9979 x 108 m/s, which is the speed of light in free space. That would be in a straight line, ladies and gentlemen. The idea that there would be a belt of photons just waiting to kill us all is rediculous.

Well, my friend....then we can all dance a little jig that we are all ok and still here! Want that be great! I sure hope that is the case!
