I came across this article and thought you guys might be interested in reading it. Its from the National Journal, and in it a senior intelligence
analysist believes (and apparently so too do a lot in the government) that the recent blackout in Florida was the result of Chinese Hackers and
possibly the PLA
For me what is most interesting about this article is that it seems to me not like an act of war so much as intimidation. More akin to the Soviets
and Americans exploding bigger and bigger bombs during nuclear tests to intimidate the other guy. The big difference though (and this is big) is that
this leads to real economic damage, and at least the potential for civilian harm (down traffic lights, broken air conditioners, and the like).
Another question is how effective would this be in for example a military action against Taiwan. I could see it used as blackmail, oppose us and we
take down your powergrid, but I would think that it would only serve to galvanize public opinion. In my opinion I am really one who believes that
there is no reason US and China can't be partners in the future, but golly this is not playing nice.
