If someone tags you as a "foe" then I suppose you could construe this as better than being ignored. I mean, hey, you're making a difference for them, right? I really can't currently imagine ever using the "foe" button.

Haven't been here very long, but have encountered things similar on some of my ol'-time forums. It's easy to misconstrue the written word. Sometimes, though, people just don't click for whatever the reason. We can pack that around like a pissed-off little shoulder monster, or just say hell with it and let it go. I like to think I pick my battles carefully -- those that matter.

I think we all have to have thicker skins than in r/t interactions. Sometimes helps to clarify a person's postion before lowering the boom on them. Sometimes, it's obvious though, huh? A person just seems have a button-pushing agenda. I don't ever mean to irritate or insult anyone. I do recognize that my verboseness can be an irritant. I have to hope that someone taking issue with me or my words would U2U and we could hack it out amidst vision of cyber-super-hopped-up steaming espresso, or some such.

Online forums are strange, and the interactions can be strange, and that's part of what makes it interesting sometimes. I wonder if there were a 'lurker' counter, if we'd have to admit that the conflictive posts got the most hits. Maybe it's just human nature.

Antar, i dont have anything against people who live in trailers. I dont have anything against hub caps. I dont have anything against someone livingwith mom and dad, and i dont have anything againt 400 lbs of hairy flesh.
Its only when you put them all together in the scenario i have in my mind that it becomes funny as hell.

Its like picturing somebody naked.

Marg and i have survived lots of mean people, huh Marge?
Remember those nights?

It would always end up with Ed and Speakerof??????

We survied it. They didnt.

Oh, my God you still have nightmares about them, I have my share of heavy targeting, I still have one that followed my thread after thread after thread.
don't you love that kind?

Well, if you choose a name such as yours, then you should know that you will arise from the ashes again while others here who are meanies will eventually crash and burn and not return.

And maybe they wanted to be called Pheonix or had a girl or some ** who dumped them by the name? Too many steroids in the fried chicken?

I had a boss who would send someone home if his wife didn't give him any the night before. Maybe she took a bubble bath?

I thinkit's mean when people put you on ignore and you don't know it. So, where's my list of respected ignores?

My Opinion? People Clash. We are all different. Sometimes we luck out and meet people we mesh well with. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes some people, just clash with everyone. Or, there are people who have nothing better to do than to constantly P*** you off. People who insult your intellegence with some random statement, claiming you must be undereducated, yet, show small levels of intellegence themselves. These ones I find a hard time walking away from, I admit.

Don't worry about it. When it comes down to it, if you let it bother you, you've let them gain some sort of control over you, that they really don't need to have. You're perfectly fine controlling yourself. You don't need someone to try and do that for you

Walking away is always a safe bet. AND - it makes sure you won't say something you regret, that might result in a points pentaly, or Banned.

Have a nice day & Cheer up!

I wear my one FOE like a badge of honor, proudly
I forget why the person even added me to their "foe" list, and actually I am surprised I don't have more then one

There's a game site I play on where they have censored and uncensored chat, and you can "mute" someone and I mute frequently and often and people get sooo upset about that, like being added as a "foe" on here I would imagine. And I am always thinking to myself, why the heck does some person on the internet care that I have muted them? It's not like I have just moved in next door to them and built a 16 foot high fence so I don't have to look at or talk to them, I am just another idiot on the internet, so why DO they care?

Don't take it too hard and remember, why exactly do you care what that one bonehead thinks? Keep your chin up and just laugh, as I am sure it will happen again, it does to all of us

I remember why I put you on it! LOLLLLLLLLL! Then I took you off last week (you didn't notice?) because I read something you said that struck me as brilliant. I might have to reconsider due to the bonehead comment!

Mehhhhhhh, I don't hold grudges for long. I have put a few people on my foe list, and then have taken them off later.

Depends what sort of mood I am in I suppose!

Racing to the profile page to see if my only "foe" is gone LOL.

Oh man i just see you talkin' about the guy who has 99.9% of ATS members that amounts to some millions of people on his foe list... when he added me i was first surprised too... but later i was rather proud of becoming part of his foe community that is 2/3 rd of the world population

Yep, that was me. While people tell me I may have multiple personalities, I can assure you I don't have multiple accounts.

I'm to lazy for something like that!

Yes, there are some rather rude, obnoxious, as well as ignorant people on ATS.

Not pointing any fingers, as I've gotten pegged before for labeling them exactly that within a thread.

I do not think ATS contains rude or mean people, just members who passionately believe their theories so much they cannot accept they are wrong.

However, I will admit, I occasionally will put someone in their place. 95% it requires one post and the thread will return to normal. If the person in question replies and continues, I put them on ignore or contact the moderators.

I have lost my cool once and stepped out of line, but apologised for it. I was rightly warned for it too.

As for trolls, idiots and anyone who tries to get my attention; I just ignore them and never acknowledge the member.

Sometimes it's flattering to know that your opinions have been noticed and provoked thought within your dectractors.

I think it shows at least someone out there is reading what your thoughts and opinions are

And offers a chance of learning, As sooner or later these people if they come across enough opinions that provoke them into anger they will come to ask themselves why???

Instead of focusing their attention onto why 'they' are always 'right' and angry that none of 'us' understands them they will be able to appericate others opinions and open their mind to new ideas and not be so angry all the time!!

After all no one truely ever stops learning!

I can't imagine putting someone on the foe list. They would have to get pretty nasty, and personal, for me to dislike them to that extent. And if it got that bad I would certainly NOT want to let them know they got to me.

Well, I can understand the idea of a "RESPECTED foe". Someone that you sees things in the opposite light as yourself but still has a good debate about it. I don't happen to have any though. It is pretty obvious that the foe button is now used as a "I don't like you" button.

I think there are plenty of rude people on here. Maybe it is my mood, but it seems like there have been a lot more lately. Seems to be less debate and more bickering going on now. Lot's of people out there who only want to ruffle feathers and make people mad.

No it wasn't haha, he has put me as a foe thou.

I don't mind being put as a foe, but I always like to know why, that's why I sent a message, expecting a good reason and then forget about it, I guess to this person I was not just his foe, I was somehow his arch enemy. And I have no idea why! lol

Anyway good replies, wasn't expecting such an entertaining discussion
