A database with the basic arguments?

This is just an idea about which I am thinking already for some time. What if concerning the old civilisations and the religions, we could make a database with the basic arguments and the arguments against it?

So from the topics we search the arguments and put them together, so at least the basic knowledge doesn't have to be repeated over and over again... That database could be changed if a topic turns out to show that some information isn't correct or needs some additional information.

Not by the members themselves (because then you have a topic), but by a selected group of people?

So we have the topics then which provide additional information for the other 'topic' which functions as a database. It looks like a research topic, only then every member has the chance to make the information better.

I don't know if it could work, I don't know if there are persons which would like to do that, so it's just an idea.

I think it would be a great feature for ATS. And I specifically say the old civilisations and religions because I know that concerning the economics for example it isn't really possible to give the basics because the economics do chance over and over. The information of the religions and old civilisations however don't ...

This is a good idea, similar to what we have for other topics (if you are just on the main ATS site, and not the forum.....)

That sounds like a good idea. The Science and Technology section could use a sort of FAQ as well. I would be interested in working on articles like that.

Read Julian Jaynes

Probably the best book on your idea, and probably the best book I have ever read period, except maybe Timothy Good and his "Above Top Secret."

Perhaps others could offer their bibliography on a start for this interesting topic.

Another thing is the literate awareness you can gain from examining the "jargon," if you will of Julian Jaynes.

Am I going to be very irritating if I put this post because I have the feeling this idea could get some more attention?

Mods can't exactly create a database on the main ATS site.... That's a little beyond our means...and up to those who manage the site. We've pitched it to the powers that be, and it's their decision... Be patient please...

That is if I'm assuming what you want correctly, just as there is a database for other subjects, on ATS, and not the forum......

Why not just post it and leave it permenantly at the top of a given forum?

I'm sure if someone did that, that could be done.... I agree it should be on the main site though, just as other subjects are...

We already have a reasonably sophisticated database of a complex amount of material on several thousand topics. The database is reasonably organized by topic area, sub-topic, and chronological sequence. In addition, there is a very sophisticated user-programmable boolean search available to locate the appropriate material within the database. Here is the link to our comprehensive data: content database
