Group Says Egypt Entraps, Tortures Gays

"Egyptian authorities have entrapped, arrested and tortured hundreds of men thought to be gay, a New York-based human rights group said in a report Monday.

Human Rights Watch urged Egypt to repeal legislation allowing the prosecution of consensual homosexual relations � covered under the country's debauchery laws.

The report said police agents surf the Internet and answer personal ads placed by men seeking men, then arrange meetings with them and arrest them."

Now this just blows me away! So basicly you only have the right to live if you live like we do. What is wrong with people.

What if it's an American who speaks Egyptian.. and he is led by some Egyptian cop, and then actually FLIES to Egypt for a meeting.. would he get clobbered?

Well, before anyone rushes to meet anyone they are acquainted with on the internet, caution is advised! For all you know, it could be an Egyptian cop who thinks you're gay!

I'd like that setup, tricking one of those bastard vice cops and then kicking the # out of them.

Just for a belief, and they're going out of their way to do this. I hope these cops fecking burn

first theory:

perhaps one should look at the real problem....
chances are, there's a good percentage chunk of the egyptian male population who really are gay, but keep it concealed.
"egypt : world's biggest gay population" is not something they want?

second theory:

a homophobic took part in writing the rules around that region.

i dont know, sounds really ou of order, but then again...perhaps the person who wrote this topic needs to reconsider his alleged "facts"?
