Oil's Top Dollars Go Up Against Senate

www.msnbc.msn.com

WASHINGTON - Since regular people are scrimping to pay for gasoline to go to work, Sen. Patrick Leahy wanted to make it personal for the men of Big Oil.

How much money did you make last year? the Vermont Democrat asked the top executives of the country’s five biggest oil companies. They had been summoned to a Senate hearing to explain the extraordinarily high cost of oil and gasoline and their companies’ profits.

Better grab your jocks and socks.....

If the big farming coops pay through the nose for diesel to harvest the fall crops you can be sure you'll pay for that too!

I went in one of the major chains here this morning, a place I've shopped for years, they were setting up a 'closing' sale. The chain is not closing, just that location.

Agreed. I envision $5, $6 a gallon at least. It is part of the big picture.

The State of Michigan is expecting something like 26,000 new motorcycle endorsements this year. I'm getting mine very soon if I win the bid I just placed on a repo bike.

Anyhow, the cost of energy will decrease the day that the people rise up and KILL all of our suppressors. Hence, never, since the populace has been conditioned to think that peaceful protest is the only valid form of change, when in reality it is non-action.

I find it very annoying that this whole 'go green' push is the new rage, while for half a century at least those of us who understood energy have been calling for, designing, and attempting to implement better sources. We were going AGAINST those who now claim their necessity!

Just saw on world news tonight. Some farmers are going back to mules. Not a bad idea considering.

Couldn't the American people be smarter and simply boycott gas buying for a week. This would considerably lower the demand.

No, they've tried that before.

They've attempted day long gas fasting... and even weekend long gas fasting. Nobody ends up on the same page.

What happens is, while some of the population is fasting from gasoline, the rest of the population takes this as a good time to fill up on gasoline, as the prices might get lowered.

In the end, it balances out so that the gas prices hadn't changed one bit. In fact, once the gas fast is over, the oil companies drag the prices up to catch them on their way back to the pumps. An attempt to "teach them a lesson" no doubt.

No, the only way to kill the oil companies, is to find a way to obliterate your use of oil entirely... not just for a short period of time.

If you live in a city... take public transit, or use your bike. So what if you take an extra 20 minutes to get to work... it will do you good physically in the end.

It's what I do. And for that 20 extra minutes out of my day... I'm saving a freaking fortune!

FORCE THEM TO BUILD REFENERIES! But of course they won't do that because they themselves have stock in oil production and won't be funded by those same companies at the next election...

Well i would love to see the free energy devices come off that dusty shelf and be made public Ha not in my life time

But if we must stick with the silly oil then let Iran flood the world market with cheap oil like they said they would do

And yes i do understand the implications of them flooding the market with oil But at the end of the day it would bring the price down

The govs of our world have too many Political agendas
