Newly made IOOF Member

I am a newly initiated member of the IOOF and enjoying what I've done so far. It is an interesting organization with what appears to be several similarities to freemasonry. Does anyone have any info on the oraganization as a whole? Also, why do the ODD Fellows initiate both men and women starting at age 16?
