Project Pluto: Nuclear powered unmanned bomber

AKA "The Flying Crowbar", This simple and workable project was an attempt to build a Mach 3+ unmanned nuclear bomber that had virtually unlimited range and to fly at a very low altitude to avoid radar detection.

Nice find but think its a scatched idea most these since they have the sams.

I think it was killed by the SALT treaty not SAMs

Well you don't breathe air. You don't need combustive fuel-air mixtures here; The craft can ingest intra planetary/interstellar matter in a collector and propel it out using nuclear explosive force.

I believe what you're referring to is a Hydrogen Fusion Ramjet.

Operates on the same principles as a Ramjet, only uses the materials found in space instead air.

A regular ramjet needs ram-air to produce thrust.
