I agree with many posters on this thread, and on the "other" thread; that NASA's news may be more mundane than a lot of us hope for. This reminds me of some old cartoon where the bad guy points a gun and fires but the only thing excting that happens is the white flag that pops out of the barrel with the word"BANG!" on it.

Nothing like blowing beer out of your nose.....I really needed this!

I personally find it difficult to believe someone does not believe in our little visitors. It may be a little easier for me though, once you been within 10' of a hoovering saucer the questioning ceases.

Because common sense dictates you want to give notice for the media to be able to apply resources to cover their announcement. This isn't a new trend, it's nothing special.

As you can see, it's not unique. That's what leads everyone with a pinch of skepticism to lean towards this being only interesting to folks who follow astrophysics. Sorry folks... No "Nibiru" or whatever.

If NASA admits this...people will realize they've been lying all along because how can they spot planets millions of miles away but not UFO's flying around in space....Any true believer and ufo info buff should know that all the astronaut's from the Apollo missions stated they saw ufo's. NASA will be destroyed by this news- IF they end up telling us that aliens exist...then it must be because something huge is going to happen where they will make themselves known and NASA just can't keep it under wraps any longer. I'll bet money that the "big" announcement...is probably about a planet or black holes.

wow, thanks for the links. You make a powerful point for the purpose for the upcoming march 14 videos NASA/ Russia has hid evidence of unexplained sightings ever since man went into space. The power of elites were about to be lost and they said, 'no public knowledge.'

Why now? Maybe is it because a sizable majority of people know about NASA's clips. Tight neo-con control of American affairs and goverment was broken by way of the Iraq war. People are bolder with the anonymity of the internet.

I wonder how the world will change after that. What I hope is, though, that the extraterrestrials will help lift Earthlings out of this pickle that we're in, I promise i'm peaceful. Just help us, give us robotic knowledge to grow our food and provide our labour so we can just sit down and take a breather.

Give us an police force to keep an eye on the elites to make sure they don't do revenge against the 'proles' with their private armies and assassins and nuclear missiles and torture camps. Once they realize they've lost the war on knowledge, they will attack like pitbulls.

wow...have any of you read any of the other threads about this announcement or done any individual research into the chandra observatory and what it does??
the only possible way that this has anything to do with aliens is if they recieved a signal in xray form and were able to decrypt it...that's doubtfull. if you read the announcement, it clearly states "object". and chandra researches blackholes and similar topics....all i'm sayin is 1+1 doesn't equal 3.
as for speculation about a planet...they are finding hundreds of them all the time...nothin special, no need for a big announcement. there was a comment about spotting planets around distant stars but no shots of alien ships....well technically most of those planets they cant really see, they only know they exist because of the effect they have on their stars...and if you think about it, extra solar intelligences zooming around in space have to do so at incredible speeds or through some kind of wormhole tech we have no clue how to work in order to traverse those immense distances. so imagine trying to take a picture of a plane that flies faster than your camera's shutter can capture it on film...yeah i'd say it's not gonna happen, sorry no deepspace ship shots yet

But other than that I think NASA makes some pretty cool stuff. If you check into the new technologies that are on their way are cool. I totally would go work for them. Who knows? in the future it may very well be the only source to our economy.

ummm I think you will find that many OTHER companies make that 'cool' stuff FOR NASA... and NASA, despite what they would wish, doesn't have a monopoly on space...

Heck Robert Bigelow here in Las Vegas already has his own private space station, and he went to the Russians to have it launched when NASA refused...

Nah, dont worry Ignorethefacts, we still love you and appreciate your good grounded common sense in most matters. It does not matter which side of skeptisim you sit on, at the end of the day it is frustrating at best.

As for NASA making the "BIG STATEMENT" I do not believe that they can.
The UFO phenomena is still considered a "Problem" according to the Military.

Everything has been proved to be so compartmentalized that no one department or person is supposed to have all the answers and they do not usually release partial pieces of information with any fanfare.

As stated above it will prove to be something most interesting to astronomers and scientists working within the field.

I seriously doubyt that NASA will be disclosing anything that the commoner can find life changing.

With space becoming more accessible to people through commercial enterprises & private companies. Hopefully this will put more pressure on the powers that be to come clean and tell the truth, as it's only a matter of time before someone comes up with undeniable evidence, that we are not alone. Then again if NASA and the US government has anything to do with it. Anybody who travels into space will be sworn to secrecy or face imprisonment, if they speak about what they might of seen up there.
