NASA always miss guide us.This time aslso they put things on hold i am sure they giving some time to our gov to decide what to do .Go to public about it or not.I think if they say some small thing i think thn it creates a new conspiracy why NASA takes So much time to disclose small finding.I THINK SOME THING BIG IS COMING 3 MORE DAYS TO COME COMEDOWN BEGAN

Why does NASA decide that it needs to tell us that a big announcement is coming rather than just releasing the information?

it's really quite sad.

on topic, i'm not convinced it will be a planet,planetoid,huge comet,ufos, or life. as stated in many other threads the chandra observatory is all about black holes, and the like...who knows though one can never say for sure untill the day comes.

you know that's something i personally hadn't though of. it's entirely possible that extrasolar intelligence may send a message not using primitive radio but instead in another part of the spectrum that could be picked up by chandra. great point!

It's probaby going to be another "we found a planet with our space telescope that is in the habittable zone of it's star and most likely has life" announcements... I would bet that they're not going to tell us that they have made first contact in any way shape or form, because we all know what kind of clusterfudge that would cause

Why does NASA decide that it needs to tell us that a big announcement is coming rather than just releasing the information?

My belief is that they do this to get the public all pumped up in hopes of some amazing new discovery and then just feed us basically the same old crapolla, but at the same time they are covering they're butts on future attacks on they're honesty to the public... so therefore when questioned in the future about they're integrity the response simply will be (NASA): Just look back we have always shared our findings and discovery's with the public!

The announcement about the news is just too... "silent" to be something important, if i had not visited the ATS I wouldn't even know about the coming announcement...so I guess it will be something really interesting for the people that are interested and know a lot of things about space. (Not like me, space is cool, I love reading about it, but im not MUCH into it...just the general stuff) And it wont be that exciting / interesting for general public.

But we can still hope it will be something big...

They found WMD on Mars pointed at Earth!....... I agree with many posters on this thread, and on the "other" thread; that NASA's news may be more mundane than a lot of us hope for. This reminds me of some old cartoon where the bad guy points a gun and fires but the only thing excting that happens is the white flag that pops out of the barrel with the word"BANG!" on it.

You know, we've always expected the governments to do the Disclosure. But, now that I think about it, an organization like NASA would be better for announcement of initial Disclosure.

If the governments disclosed, we would immediately claim cover-up, black projects, clamor for technologies and secret documents to be uncovered.

But if NASA disclosed, it would forestall the chaos a bit. Give the powers that be time to analyze public reaction and adjust/control the outpouring. Basically make, if need be, NASA a scapegoat and a vital tool of initializing release of information, with the option for the governments of backing out.

I think you right NASA did it purposely to create New conspiracy like NASA Moon landing .So we have dought that they did in real or not but big issues was did they find alien base on moon or not.So NASA created conspiracy by putting fake video even they landed on moon.so till date we fighting that they dnt landed, so if we stuck to that conspiracy finding alien base is like fiction .I think on same old tested pattern to create conspiracy NASA annouces & take a week to put some thing in public .....

Dudes, it is going to be water on one of Saturn's moons. No doubt.

I deffinetily do not expect an disclosure of any kind to take place, but i still would be happy with evidence of life in another star system supported by some type of photographic evidence from one of the space telescopes... that would grab my attention, or maybe something like that

Something as important as final 'disclosure' on ET, UFOs or Aliens would not be left to NASA. The government would assume this role.
