All of the electrons wasted on this could have caused it's own supernova

so there are 50 more supernovas missing in our galaxy..that is frightening
hope they find them fast...before they do some real damage...

There is a huge thread on 4 chan about this and they are even more dissapointed so knowing 4chaners and there propensity for prank calling I'd be willing to bet its one of them prank calling.

Lets donate to nasa so they can discover more supernovas. why did they call it an object why not tell us from the getgo that its a supernova remnant.

It's a Supernova !!! Have to admit, I'm a little disappointed

The teleconference was a bit of a farce too - really badly organised. This won't do much for NASA's reputation. Probably the Chandra Admin Team's fault for not vetting the callers first.

The web site for the announcement no longer shows this event and now just shows the one on the 15th.

NASA went to the moon yet they cant stop crank callers this is weird. they get drunk go off to space and call it a day i guess, they need more tech guys like me

Hi DuneKnight maybe they were testing the waters to see what kind of reaction their announcement would bring when they used the term object. Yes it seems misleading but NASA needs publicity to warrant their worth. Rik Riley
