The ATS Issues Thread

GEL have the thread backgrounds been scraped ? The cool graffics on the side bars ? I thought they were quite nice.

It's Saturday. Car Crash / ATS Live is on air. I wish I could join the gang in ATS Chat

Yeah I haz been letting it slide, but I iz also curious as to why my flags aren't registering?...

Any help rectifying this would be greatly appreciated.

When looking at a board, why do soem threads have a thick black line on the left hand side next to the title, and why do some have a large blue cross?

Also when will the thread alert button be fixed?

The thick black line means that the thread has more than 200 replies (and so might be an interesting one?)
The cross means that users can no longer post replies in that thread.

There is a typo in the post alert option (template) I would like to draw attention to.

If you try to use the Alert (Complaint) option for this post, the window pops up and you will see this in the box:

Complaint aboout post:
www.abovetopsecret.com...

(bold added by me)

The word "about" is misspelled due to a typo. It has two o's instead of just one.

I thought I would bring this to the attention of the staff.

I always thought it has something to do with flags in all honesty since whenever I saw it, the thread had a high number of flags.

Go to this forum for example and at this moment in time there is a thread with only 69 replies for example and 77 flags all the while the black bar is showing.

.....Then again, go to this forum and at this moment in time there is a thread with only 5 flags but it has the black bar still..

Interesting. Perhaps there is more than one criterion.
I noticed a black line appearing on one of mine at the exact moment when it reached 200 replies, so I made the obvious deduction.
Maybe it is something like "200 replies, or X number of flags, whichever comes first"

PS Of the two you quote above, one has over 200 replies, and the other has over 50 flags. Two ways of getting there?

On second thought though, it could be what you mentioned or maybe it's a combined effort perhaps??

Yes it's been that way. I thought it was a way to minimize complaints. Since I know I'm going to be forced to correct the spelling every time I write a complaint, I'm less inclined to complain! (though I imagine some people just send in the complaint without correcting it, that doesn't fit my personality!)

One of the ads was flagged as malicious by my antivirus, who do I need to poke with ze specifics of it?

Send the information and any screen caps and such to the complaint forum.

OK so like 3 hours later SO comes in and closes a Chat that has no clue why our conversation was smashed off in the middle of a talk because of something that had happened 3 hours ago and was (I think ) moderated in a proper fashion and put back on a proper path . I love ATS , but Im not understanding this at all . _bluemooone2_ NO sticks his head out here concerning chat, page 1

Oh is that what happened. I was wondering why all of a sudden the chat room just shut down on us. I didn't see anything bad going on. I use the chatroom maybe once a week and it's pretty annoying to have it be shut down like that by a moderator for no good reason.

My suggestion: Just ban individual members for a length of time, don't shut the entire chat room down. This isn't a boy scout camp where everyone getting punished for one's behavior will create an atmosphere of peer pressure to keep everyone in line. It's a chat room. Kick/ban.
