The new required number of posts appears to be 500, I'm only at 396, looks like I wont be sitting in tonight while at work

yeah its ridiculous, why change the post count? is that supposed to show some level of maturity, how many posts one makes? Idiots are going to act like idiots, whether they make one post or 500 posts

ATS without Chat would be like Dolce without Gabanna. The 2 compliment each other indeed a large part of ATS is about the freedom to speak. For those who don't tow the line so to speak how about introducing say a week/month long ban from chat? A lot of good comes out of chat more good than bad and indeed many like myself have learnt a lot from others on there. It's good to talk. Keep chat! It's a step in the right direction. Forward ever backward never!

seems to me it's rather pointless. time and time again, the denizens of chat are reminded of the T&C and time and time again, chat is shut down and reinstated and, yet, the same issues persist.

I'd have said something but I went in to read and figured y'all would realize that there was an admin in the room and, perhaps, some decorum was in order.

Instead, I saw members behaving like 5 year olds. it was both shocking and embarrassing.

It's the same old cycle...it repeats and repeats.

Everytime, the staff have to increase the number of posts...if that isn't impacting, maybe another possible option should be thought off to have more impact?

Oh man I only checked ATS chat out again last week and was gonna start checking in more often! Got 126 posts to go now!

I don't know what was happening in there, but you would realy think that people using it were mature enough to do so.

Can't you just ban the offenders and make them buy their access back using ATS points or something? A 500 post count is pretty high when you look at the statistics and post to member ratios etc.

I like the statistics page actually, pretty cool.

You guys can do 500 easy,

Be glad that there's now a 500-post minimum for chat access. The alternative could be to have chat removed completely...

While I don't use chat much, I can see the reasoning behind why they did what they did, but it is hardly exclusive to ATS. All across the spectrum from IRC to other discussion boards, there is a general trend lately twords rude and outrageous behavior, name calling, vulgarity, and outright discussion that would make Carlin cringe.

I've been in discussions elsewhere that have degenerated quickly into something that you would expect to see in Junior High School and the only thing that some could come up with was that with the world in such a mess, people just don't care anymore. If that is the case, fine, so be it, but not everyone is gloom and doom all the time, and therefore, the decision to restrict chat, was probably a good one.

I won't say as I'm not offended by the decision to up the post count, with 435 posts, it will be a while before I can go back in, but as a member that contributes as often as she can, it feels like being punished for having a life outside of the internet that doesn't allow for posting continuously, but that is not to say that I don't understand the decision, I do.

I do not use chat but the 500 post chat thing is going to back fire. People are going to be posting any thing and everything just to get the 500 posts needed. At the very least the ones that were there already should not have been kicked out. I seen a lot of one liners in ATS future.

I am afraid that is where this is headed. I have seen this on many other sites. They would up the chat /post limit and then all of a sudden the site would get flood with all kinds of post and crap. They would then raise the post limit even higher and it was like trying to put out a fire with gasoline. More than a few removed chat all together. It does not look god for chat. It is sad when everyone has to pay for the actions of a few but that is the world we live in.

There is the big problem.
This place is full of bad information and that is a fact I would be glad to proove.
Do this 500 point chat and watch the BS go through the roof.
I could care less about the chat feature, but some will think it is very important to be a part of.

My panties are still a bit ruffled.
I personally wonder why the mods NEVER answered my questions about the now defunct store?
I posted some off-topic angry bs to see if anyone was modding, and got a 1000 point snatch without anything but a standard response. And I did not go balistic afterwards with a NASIOC DOS (look it up) to ATS, so understand I'm trying to be cool about this. I'm all about an eye for an eye, but this place is like never never land with the one way mods.

Remember people the mods and site owner here are no better than you.
They are just as off in the head as the posters here, and are not super human in any way.
They will make mistakes and do things the ATS community does not want.

I will say, they are better off not doing what the users want all the time, but open communication would really be a better method than just point jerking.

The 500 post restriction is temporary until some other changes are put into place. Stay tuned.

Hey all, does the chat bar raised because of me ? Cool!

I have been kidding a lot in there and its because a reason, the chat mostly is a lot more dull than lively. Need some clown to stir things up. On 500 bar method, its not really good action to perform, consider providing ban or kick ability to mods, afterall thats what mod stands for - moderator and to moderate things.

Some chat do get heated discussion up to hours and some merely topic that last less than 1 minute, between these chats clowns needed to keep chatter attention to the chatbox. Lack of clowns usually results in a ghost town, somebody there but nothing much happen.

Clowns actions/casual chat also reduce noise in the forum because jokes usually come in few liners and doesnt really make sense to a serious discussions. Moderator interactions also needed, a few lines of "Guys, get on topic" I believe would make things back in order. Some mod dont even respond to comments about them - zombies ? It is better to have stern mod instead of zombie mod , at least people aware he/she is not a machine.

Other suggestion is to "outsource" the chat to well established IRC services, some of the benefits include reduced bandwidth , the moderating and security structure already in place, automatic/programmable kick/ban/custom action using bots, access by other softwares, support of file transfers etc. TnC can be throw in by the greeting bot/chat access page/topic.

Crakeur I do say "the end is nigh" to you as ice breaker and yet not even a "hi" to your audiences ? I assume all the mod is always busy then.

I have 500 post bar, I guess I wont be chatting for a while, probably gone away for everyone pleasure. Thanks for all the fish
