I think the problem of surviving gets progressively harder the more obstacles you have when you become homeless. If you are a single, childless male
with a condition/problem/situation that effectively disables you (or makes you virtually unemployable) and you are older and in poor general health,
you're gonna have a hell of a time pulling yourself out of that. In the US (at least) it is possible to have some pretty serious problems and still
not qualify for disability. Once you hit that barrier, you have a rough path ahead of you that is very different for someone who is 25 years old and
in perfect health.
