Bush unveils new Burma sanctions

US President George W Bush has announced fresh sanctions against the military regime in Burma.

He said he had ordered the US Treasury to freeze the assets of state-owned firms in Burma "that are major sources of funds that prop up the junta".

I don't understand how our president can do all this without the approval of the people. I think that anything the president does should first be approved by congrees, or another set of population voted people.

And of course I can't find this story on any of our local news websites. (cnn, fox etc)

In Washington, Mr Bush said his executive order targeted "companies in industries such as gems and timber that exploit the labour of the downtrodden Burmese people but enrich only the generals".


This made me laugh, basically he issued these santions for the same thing thing going on in this economy. (rich getting richer, Poor getting poorer)

We need to just stay out of other country's affairs until we have delt with our own.
